Hi.
Thanks to all of you I bought my running boards from Tim and saved about $200. I ordered on Friday afternoon and they arrived on Wednesday morning. You guys are right Tim is the way to go.
When I was putting the brackets together, I noticed that two of the "B" brackets had areas where the black paint was chipped off. Tim has graciously agreed to do what ever I want, i.e. send me new brackets with return tags for the postage.
The areas of concern are small, but they are on the top corners where the brackets would meet the frame. I am worried about rust forming in a few years (I intend to keep the MDX for quite awhile)
My question for the forum is what would you do:
1. Just put em on, no one will see the spot and it wont rust.
2. Spray a little rust - oleum on it and put it on.
3. Don't take any chances, Tim said he would swap em so do that.
Tomorrow in St. Louis is supposed to be nice (50 - 60 degrees) and I was hoping to put them on so my 5 and 7 year olds can stop pulling on the front seat backs every time they get in.
Thanks for your help. Any anyone on the fence about Tim at Hondacuraworld: rest assured, what you read in this forum is true. Fast, friendly and professional service and good prices. (psst . . . Tim: can I get that free cargo tray now? ;) :2: ) |

A picture might help. I would likely do your second recommendation and do a on-spot touch up.
I hate waiting for things to arrive, and to have to wait again would be too much! |

| I'm with DaleB; go with No. 2, and use a little Rustoleum. I might even go so far as to spray some on the brackets first, then after the installation is complete, spray some more where the brackets meet the frame. |
