Picking my MDX up today! I tried searches, but couldn't find what things I should look for, or check when I pick the car up. Please help guide me. I'm sure there is a thread, but I'm just missing it.

Here is the thread you were looking for:

1. Drive it for at least 15 minutes and listen for any noises and observe any obvious driving problems such as poor idling.
2. Push every button and test all systems such as A/C, radio, and navigation if ordered.
3. Physically inspect the car for any scratches or blemishes and all shipping/packing materials are removed
4. If you had any dealer installed accessories, check that they are all there and are installed properly.
5. Do not sign any paperwork before you test drive the vehicle.
6. If you are financing or leasing, make sure the amount on either the load or lease agreement is the same as what is in your sales contract.
7. Make sure you get two sets of keys and remotes
8. Make sure you don't have Firestone tires.
9. Look for orange peel paint
10. The mileage on the car (should be about 10 miles)
11. The accessories purchased (dealer must deliver with all items installed; that way you can avoid problem 12. if they install a deflector after delivery and damage your car; the dealer cannot force you to take the car until all accessories are installed ("perfect tender" rule)).
13. Free tank of gas, promotional gadgets, leather cover for the user manual
14. Check that all doors and tailgate lock properly
15. Try to get free Touchup paint & 2 extra keys; first oil change ~3500 miles; first VTM-4 fluid change ~ 7500 miles
16. Asked him not to put on a dealer nameplate or decal.
17. I also asked for a pinstripe as no extra cost. Black dual pinstripe about 1.0" below the windows on a Silver MDX. The Pinstripe also has an Acura Emblem in a brake in the dual pinstripe just below the front of the side rear view mirror black mount.
18. Ask about a loaner car if your car needs work any time during the first month. I had options put on and got a free loaner twice.
19. Spare Tire – Full or Donut
20. I'd also suggest that you bring along some CDs and check out the CD changer
21. Check for thump at Engine mount fire wallside bolts and Front bushings and stabilizer bar, also LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS and swaybars

Item 15 is something I didn't think about.

Looked in the delivery thread, and have a question. Since most of the posts in there are old, is the "thud" problem of 2001 gone? How about the radio buttons? Any new common problems for the 2003?

1. Make sure you get 3 keys/2 remotes. There should be a gray vallet key AND two black keys.

2. Make sure you get the Radio AND the Key codes.

3. If you really want to go nuts, make sure the rubber plugs that go in the tie-down holes (used in transport) are in place. They are located ahead of the rear axle in the unibody.

Good luck and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing I have noticed they never seem to check the tire air preasure. The last 2 cars i have bought had almost 40 psi in the tires. The $85.00/ hour mechanics never seem to check that.

This is a terrific check list to bring with you, courtesy of the folks at Motley Foolwww.fool.com/Car/Worksheets/DeliveryChecklist.htm

I also like the list rvehock mentioned above. I plan on bringing both with me to pick up our MDX at the end of the month.

Good luck!
