Don't U.S. purchasers have to go through expensive hoops to get a Canadian vehicle converted and titled in U.S. including dash and computer changes?

Hi Steve:

___It would be great if the Canadian Acura dealers would actually let an American citizen purchase one from them but they won’t for fear of Allocation cuts from Corporate Honda. If I could have purchased a Canadian Touring direct, I would have because the $7K in savings would have been worth losing the warranty over IMHO. I did call a few Canadian based Acura dealerships from Detroit to the Falls just in case and was turned down without more than a sentence or two. I only wish I knew how the E-Bay importers are doing it on vehicles with 100 – 300 miles … I guess you can call the X’s used at that point but someone is greasing the skids to make this happen.

___Crmsnidol, the conversion and importation is actually relatively inexpensive and not complicated from my reads on the subject 6 or so months ago. With three or four contacts, it would have been relatively painless to get the odometer converted and drive it across the border with the DMV and Customs paperwork pre-approved/arranged.

___Good Luck

Thanks Wayne.

I was going by what a co-worker just went through for his fiancee's Canadian VW Jetta to be converted and titled here. He said it was around $1500 if I remember correctly.

I'm a Canadian too. My dealership made me sign an agreement saying that I was not allowed to sell my MDX to anyone in the U.S. for 1 year minimum.
