I know this has been discussed before and is already in the knowledge base, but dammit, my windshield has cracked again. This is the third windshield in this car.

I have never had a windshield crack in any car before this MDX, ever! But very small rock taps cause major cracks pretty quickly on this car.

Crap.

Is it always replaced with an Acura windshield, or an after-market from a repair service (National Glass, etc.)?

We are going to have to replace the windshield on ours soon. Took a hit which made a very small crack. The crack ran in two directions for about 16 inches within 15 minutes:mad:

I guess I am lucky. I got the rock hitted my windshield twice while I am driving on the highway. Both made LOUD hit noise, but none of them make my windshield crack. (One on driver side and another on passenger side)

I never have to replace the windshield on my old car, and wish will not need for this MDX as well.:)

I have been told previously that only OEM glass was available for the MDX, because it was so new the first time it was replaced. So, the original glass and replacement were Honda. It was installed by Safelite, which I think is a national chain. They were recommended by my insurance company, so I am sure they are cheapest while still being reasonably reputable.

I am just now in process of making arrangements for the new replacement. I suspect it will be Safelite again, but maybe now there is aftermarket manufactures for these windshields. I dunno yet.

Good luck! I've said it before, but I wish some enterprising company like 3M or Corning could develop an optically clear plastic film to cover the windshield for added protection. I guess it would be very difficult to get it to that degree of clarity.

I previously worked for Bayer Corporation and they are 95% complete with a completely plastic windshield in a joint venture with GE. Can't tell the difference to look at it but its much cheaper and stronger and easier to repair. It can even be sanded and polished if it gets little pits or scratches.

Probably see it in a Chrysler product in the next 2 years.
