Cell Phone Interface - Click HERE for Original Thread

I just had a rather interesting encounter that I thought I would share.

I asked my parts manager at the dealership if he had any details for the new cell phone interface and he said he would check on it. He came back and basically said he knew nothing about it and actually asked me to show him the Acura brochures in the show room. He didn't even know that it was an official Acura accessory.

He took my card and called me later to say he called "the warehouse" and they had no information either.

He did say that I would order the interface for my specific phone. I gave him my phone information, but from what I have read about it, either my phones will work or they wont and that a standard interface is being used.

Well that is all I know. I am anxious to actually see how this thing will work.

He's right.....they told us that it would be a spring launch, and then gave us no info on it whatsoever. I'll make a call on it tomorrow to see if there's any more info available, today I'm sick in bed with a fever :(

Fever and all and still you are reading mdx.org and responding quickly.

Get better soon.

I thought I would bring this up to the surface again.

Anyone have any new info? My parts manager still says that Acura itself is unsure of capabilities, price, connectivity, availability etc.

How does this thing work? Is it generic in the sense that it works with all cell phones? We are moving our company cell phones to Nextel this week and I would be interested in the capability of this Acura Interface system.

The parts dept. manager at my dealer called while I was there. He was told that they now have an interface for the Pilot and Odyssey.

do you mean you have an interface connecting your phone to MDX?

where can I get it?
and where/how do you connect it?

what about for non-nextel phones?

I have a Nextel phone, no interface w/my X. Its just a phone that you can program voice calling commands to. A lot of non-Nextels have a similar feature. I guess what I don't understand is the "interface" with the MDX part. What's the interface do?

I have one on my Panasonic phone as well but am too lazy to program with my voice. I tried it once but it took 3 times to be able to finally acknowledge my voice and dial.

I am waiting for the price to drop on the Sony Erisson T68i as an upgrade. Bluetooth ready, attach one earphone/mike on one ear, and put the phone anywhere it's convenient. "Look Ma! No wires!"

Voice command would be the icing on THAT cake!

The added feature on the Nextel of course is the direct connect two way radio, no charge for those calls, and no charge for incoming cell calls. I love the hands-free feature in the car, and no annoying earphones either.:4: I'm not a salesman, I'm not a salesman, I'm not a salesman,

Have it work throuigh the audio is even better. As long as it doesn't fight Navi Natalie for air time.

We are all sales(persons) of one sort or another, or at one time or another.

navi has phone number for poi and
if there's an interface for your cell phone,
it'd be convenient to make a call to that poi
by activating something from navi.

i was looking for such an interface.
in this way you don't need to make extra effort to make a call
from you phone whether it's voice activated or not.
