| New X, Bad Omen???

Hi All:
___I finally received the wife’s X! $1500 under MSRP w/ BSM’s and Wheel locks included on a TW w/ Quartz - Touring w/ RES and it’s the closest dealer to my locale. Quite a bit more and a different dealer than what I had originally planned but the wife is happy … Long story for another thread.
___Ok, the paperwork is signed, the walk through of the vehicle is complete, my own checklist is complete, and we are ready to go. I am in the Previa off to the side and I see my wife struggling with something under the steering wheel? 3 or 4 minutes go by and I get out to see what’s the problem? When I left the vehicle, my son was in the back ready to watch the instruction DVD but now he is in the front seat and reaching for something under the dash? What the hell? Problem #1: Within 2 minutes of owning the X, my wife had accidentally inserted the RES instruction DVD into the 1” gap above the DVD player instead of into the player itself and it jambs in a place almost unrecoverable behind the player. I pulled the coin tray and begin a contortionist’s nightmare to pull this stuck DVD from the area behind the player. 15 minutes later and I have recovered the DVD. Problem #2: The instruction DVD now looks like someone had thrown it onto a busy street during rush hour … I tell my wife to go to the salesperson and ask if they could give us another one since this one is totally destroyed. 20 minutes later, we are both on our way home. I just hope this is not a sign of things to come.
___Just a warning for those with the RES equipped X’s, be careful. The DVD you ruin may just be your own ;)
___As for pic’s, I am almost embarrassed to show it as it is bone stock except for the BSM’s/locks and I really dislike the 03 Touring rims :( Once it is juiced up a bit (thanks Tim), than the pic’s …

Hi excel,
Congrats at last on your new ride. Don't let the DVD experience sour you. Chalk it all up to excitement and move on, you've done the right thing. Take a deep breath and relax, and take your time with all the gadgets. You have the X now so post some pics asap. I posted some before I added anything, you have waited so long and been a major post-er on this forum, so go ahead.

Even though I heard most of the story of your purchase on the chat last night, I think others will want to hear about it.
Go ahead, post some pics. Of course, since you had to actually drive it home in Chicagoland, it no doubt already has it's first coat of salt/dirt/dust. Then again, it probably doesn't show as much on your white X as it does on my blue! |

Like me you posted like a mad man before you received the X. I hope, also like me, you found the experience on the forum helpful in making your purchase as well as adding to the enjoyment of your new ride. |

.....and BTW, I HATE heavily "modded" vehicles! ........and I'm sure there are many like me! ....No huge chrome rims :rolleyes: or modified exhausts :rolleyes: or "lowering" :28: or anything like that for me...Not my cup of tea!
I know you're not referring to the above mentioned stuff when you say "changing the 'stock' configuration", but I thought, while we're on this subject, I'd take this opportunity to let people know what I think of the fools who add - or more specifically, modify - stuff like "exhausts" and "manifolds", in the process, screwing up the engine/powertrain-durability,reliability, highly engineered tolerances etc. etc. etc. .......Yeah friggin right :rolleyes: , the Acura engineers with multiple-Phds and multi-million dollar "tools" did not spend years and years for someone to "ruin" their work .......and yet you have these fine "examples" of "intelligence" who think they can do better by going to the local store and slapping on a bigger exhaust! :rolleyes:

xcel - Congrats and guess what?!? You received your MDX exactly a month after I got mine! :D
So I take it you didn't get your TW Premium 'X from Georgia after all. What happened, and where did you manage to get $1500 off in the area?
The Touring rims may grow on you. At first I liked the Premium rims better, but the more 2003 Touring rims I saw in my area, the "cheaper" the Premium rims looked. ;)

While I would certainly agree that no one should consider heavy modification of any modern vehicle for a variety of reasons. Do not forget many mods made for performance improvements (those properly designed for specific models) are not examples of fools trying to be smarter than the "PhDs" but rather replacing tradeoffs which are installed by the manufacturers to save costs, at some sacrifice of performance. Which is common practice for all mass produced automobiles. Give the engineers full reign and we would driving quite a different X, and one that would sell for a price that would place it well outside it's selected market. |

| Don't worry about jamming the DVD into the wrong place. I knew someone who actually tried to jam multiple CD into their single CD player thinking that it was the 6 CD in-dash change. Needless to say the dealer had to rip out the whole stereo and replace it with a new one. Enjoy your new X and perhaps you can shove a piece of tape or something into the little slit right above the DVD player to prevent this from happening again. Women..... |
