Lol. Thanks for bumming me out. :-)

Here's the post which made me think the $20 was worth it:

"I came out of my office building, ready to go down to my shore house, as I do EVERY weekend, when I found a post-it note on my driver's window. The note said, 'Dear owner, your rear right tire is missing 3 lug nuts. I did not know if you knew but it has been like that for 2 - 3 days now.' ...Well, needless to say, THANK GOD I GOT THE WHEEL LOCKS."

I just faxed this post to Acura Client Services. It will be interesting to see if they do anything about this. Hopefully they'll track down the person selling these. Probably a disgruntled former employee. At the very least, they should buy 'em

That's Rob (Proud Acura Master Mechanic) having a Garage Sale. I guess he's clearing all his Acura related tools to make room for GM tools. Sorry, couldn't resist...

It seems the seller didn't get what he wanted for these "master" wheel locks. I guess the crooks just didn't have enough money. :2:

I never understand why some sellers put the reserve price on their aution, while their start bidding price is $1.

Shouldn't that be easier to put your start bidding price at whatever your acceptable price range?

Hi JTM:

___“That’s the way it is” … “when you play on the EBay”

___There are quite a few techniques for both the buyer and the seller in some of these auctions. The Reserve w/ a low starting bid is to get people excited (I guess)? The ones I hate are the 9 day out auctions w/ Reserve (low starting bids) and no one seriously bids on the merchandise until the last 30 seconds anyway. For a car, maybe but for a set of rims, tires, accessories, toys, tools, or whatever else, it just makes you log into the system day after day to see where the junks price is headed.

___And as always, I am logging in day after day after day :(

PS: There is a great deal on a “scratch and dent” Hitchmate GlideAway 4000 coming up tomorrow for anyone that is interested. I am so please leave that one alone ;) There is a retail unit up now that will end tonight with an initial and “Buy It Now” bid well below that of retail as well for those that are interested. There is a set of 4 - 03 Corolla S rims and tires up for bid that ends tomorrow which I am interested in. There is also (2) sets of 03 Premium Chromed rims up for bid that I have won in a range from $310.00 to $810.00 but his reserve is at $1K (he doesn’t include this in the auction listing), and there are … just too many to list. I both love and hate E-Bay as you can tell!

___Good Luck

I agree JTM, In my auctions, I just set the minimum price I'll accept as the starting bid. However, I've purchased items that did not meet the reserve price. Many times, the seller just wants to see what the interest is in the item, without being contractually bound to sell it.

Xcel is right. If the minimum bid is set too high, even at a "fair" price for most merchandise, nobody will bid. But start it low, with a reserve price to protect yourself, and you can start a bidding frenzy where people will refuse to lose the bidding and keep outbidding others. (Then you have to hope they'll actually pay up after the auction).

As far as the wheel locks, I think most criminals of the type that steal wheels aren't big Internet users. There may be a few, though, particulary ones that are selling stolen stuff on eBay. (Airbag modules, radios, OEM HID lights, etc.)

Its more because of the fact that Ebay charges you more to post an item if the starting price is higher... I dont know exactly what % but the fee definately increases as the starting price increases.
