Bad news from Acura...
Well Larry from Customer Service did call me back today -- and according to engineering, and I quote "All MDX's do that!" ... but he says, "Unless we get more than two or three percent" of owners complaining about it - nothing will be done.

Leaking Mirrors Complaint Survey
If it's two percent of owners that Acura wants - let's give it to them!
I'm hoping our moderator and one of our attorney owners can help us with this. If one of our attorney owners can draft a letter template and post it to this board, we could all copy the format and send it in a private message to our moderator expressing our desire to have this problem fixed without posting our personal information on this forum. Acura4life could then compile those responses and send them to the appropriate person at Acura.
What do you think?

Good Idea.
I'd suggest, though, that any communication go via US Mail.
The machinations to ensure that our info be kept private, compiled, and forwarded are rather excessive, especially in light of the fact that 500 individual letters would have MUCH MORE IMPACT than a fed ex box with 500 identical printed boilerplate letters.
It shouldn't be that hard to come up with a compelling letter. There are no legal issues here, just customer goodwill and public relations. Also, if all letters are different, Acura will not dismiss this as a "just a bunch of folks jumping on an easy bandwagon".
Here's the other rub: I think Acura's response would be "bring it to the dealer first". While some folks have, many have not- do you think that would be an issue that would undermine the effectiveness of a letter campaign?
I'll send my letter off today.
