| Hey guys, I know there are other posts about HIDS and regular Silverstars, but i would like to know the pros and cons for each one. What is the best and most reliable HID kit that you all have used? Also, for regular halogen, which are the brightest and best to put that emulate HIDs? Are these relatively easy to install? I never have much time on my hands, so is there any place that can install these lights for me? Any autoparts store? My local gas station mechanic? Thanks guys!!! |

Sliverstars are nice, and an economical upgrade from stock. They are NOT designed to emulate HIDs.
Lamps that do are only that, emulators, and often offer even less light output. |

| Installing Silverstars, eaaasy. Pop out the current bulbs, put in the Silverstars. HID is more involved. Probably the most time consuming part is finding proper mounting spot for the ballast. Check treads and find out where alot of user place the ballast. You need to be careful with the HID place them gently into the socket. DONT!!! ever touch the bulb or its life expectancy is cut short. Much like halogen. But these bulbs are exxpennnnsive!. Then just bundle, zip tie them and voila. DONE But the only drawback to HIDs. Once you see them you will not want anything else, trust us. |

Even though HID's require more power to get them started, when they are on they consume less energy. Only drawback is that they cost a couple C-notes. I am currently driving around with the SilverStars right now and they do me fine driving at night. But during the day, the differences between HID's to Halogens are well.........."clear as night and day".
This might be a retarded question but, does anybody in our forums have HID's in their lows/fogs? Or is that like illegal or something? |

The stock bulbs are brighter than my 93 Maxima's. The silverstar is even brighter than stock bulbs. :2:
so current, I am using SilverStar for lows and keeping the stock bulbs as backup for either low or fog lights.:) |

There might be some member here who have both HIDs for low/fogs. Search the threads. IMO, to have HIDs for the fogs really defeats the purpose of the fogs as the fogs are suppose to be used for bad weather lighting. That is why many here have switched to a yellow light output as they provide better lighting during a rain/snow storm. I currently have the PIAA super blue, they look very nice but they are crap during the rain/snow as the refelction off them plus the HIDs reflection is very blinding.

| How about daytime running lights? A have a Canadian built 01 w/ daytime running lights. Does anyone know if Silverstars, or HIDs for that matter, are suitable for this configuration? |

| Do your Drls flicker/flash when you start the engine? I know my PIAA DRLs do this. If this is the case for the Canadian DRLs, I'm not sure this would be good for HIDs. I don't know how the SilverStars react to being switched on and off quickly, but I would think they would be the same as the OEM halogens??? |

Silverstars are the same as the OEM halogens insofar as DRL use; it isn't a problem.
HIDs can't be used as DRLs since they require FULL POWER and pretty much every OEM implementation is 50%-80% power to the lamps for DRL use. They either won't work or you'll kill them.
Key question, however, for the Canadian owners: are your DRLs on the highbeams or lowbeams? If they're on the highs, then you can do HIDs on the lows with no problem. If they're on the lows, then you're kinda stuck.
I'm with kishino on HIDs in fogs -- total waste of money and defeats the purpose of the fogs, which is to provide DIFFUSE lighting in adverse conditions. |

| Canadian DRLs are on the high beams. |

I would be happy witht he Silverstars
Would they be blinding for oncoming traffic? Also, any recommendations on where to obtain them? I did not see them at Hondacuraworld.
Thanks |

m2pc,
based on previous threads, no for your first question and autozone for the second. |
