Color Keyed Side Molding Installed! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Well, I finally installed the color-keyed side molding on my MDX. It was actually straighforward and simple. Though a bit unnerving to actually glue something to the doors, knowing that it porbably wouldn't come off if I screwed up.

This is the molding that I purchased from "Motorcars" offer on (AcuraMDX.org).

Not quite sure what those lights are in the background.

Acura Angles maybe?

Mike, molding looks great. That's another item on my list! Much nicer than black IMO. Great pics!

Looks sharp. I know how ya felt sticking those things on -- it was pretty nervewracking for me, too, putting that 3M "probably permanent" adhesive on a brand new $40k car! And hoping it was actually straight.

FWIW, I'd still recommend the Prostripe M94 black, halfround, 1" with tips, if folks have the black car. It's < half the cost.
 !
Looks great!!! However the WAF is low but I have told her that this is a real world solution to a real world problem where people do not care about slamming their doors into adjacent vehicles in parking lots. BTW how did you choose the correct location? Can you provide the height from say the ground or crease? It appears level, is it? Anyway I may also buy one.

Nice job Mike.
Do the ends have a professional finish?
How durable is the paint?
Do the running boards offer any ding protection?

Can you give use an exteme closeup.

I am waiting for my black MDX to come in a couple of weeks. Please give me soem details on the moulding. If I can save half the price that would be great.

Can i order it over the web?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a Silver MDX. Any suggestions on moldings ?
Your choices are pretty much limited to the color keyed in this thread or the black M94 as in my prior post.

Check the gallery for bilmat's GG Touring with black bodysides to get an idea of what black might look like on silver. It's a relatively old post, you may need to use the dropdown box in the upper right and pick "select all dates" or whatever it says since it defaults to last 30 days.

I think the thread said GG loaded with bodyside moldings or something to that effect.

I checked the threads....The pics are not very clear.
Could you let me know what is the width of the trim and if there is any other URL to look for.

Thanks for the quick responses....this is a great forum (specially for us who are getting our vehicles NOW).

We hope these help

That is a really good pic (gives one a good look).
Could you please get back on how wide is the molding and also is the color match achieved by painting over black (and if so what is the guarantee on the paint, in terms of peeling)?

Hey Mike...the next to the last picture did it for me. I'm going to put the moulding on for sure before someone dings up my side. About your last picture....cute dog but don't you think she's had to much beer and pretzels?

anyway thanks for the picts...Ray
Hey Mike,
Nice pics. I just put my deposit down today. Dealer said they could put them on for about $200, but will check. I think I read about this elsewhere on the thread, but didn't try the search- yet, but do those help reduce dings or is the lower panel too far out? I know it can't catch all of them, but curoious if it catches more than a few. TIA for sharing any of your experiences!

As you can see from the previous pic's the mouldings are of good quality and color match is very good. I think they will help prevent dings from large vehicles such as 4x4 trucks, vans, etc.due to height of install. The running board will hopefully help will the smaller vehicles due to their height....so far no dings.
As far as installation goes,I did it myself, really was not to bad, pretty clear instructions; need warm temp. masking tape(I used a bubble level to double check tape line for level) took all of about 20 minutes and a bit of nerve to install, $200 at Dealer is a rip. I am very pleased with the results. As far as whether the paint on the moulding will hold up on the mouldings is anyone guess, I think it will hold up as well as OEM, looks very similiar to what I have on my Honda Odyessey.

Is it the strip or the whole door? And can u get a dealer to install it?
