Turning into a friend's apartment parking space, I turned too tightly placing an adjacent support pole just an inch or so from the right rear quarter panel of my X.
My friend warned me I better be careful when backing out. I was not careful enough and initially turned the wheel in the less desirable direction. Not correcting it in time I heard a rubbing sound as I continued to back slowly.
I quickly stopped to see what happened. I looked all over the painted surface which was clean without a blemish.
Then my eyes drifted down to the Manik step where right at the rear bend there was a strip of paint transfer from the pole. This was easily removed with a little rubbing compound and the stainless finish gleamed back at me!
I am counting my lucky stars! |

DaleB ,
that was too close for comfort, eh? Those parking lot bollards are a nuisance on one hand, yet on the other thay do serve a useful purpose. Other places you have to be careful with are drive through ATM's, and drive through pharmacies, they can clip your sideview mirrors if you're not careful.
Happy Motoring (oops, thought I had the new Mini for a moment)
Happy MDX'ing! :29: |

DaleB...
Glad the step saved the paint....
BTW.. you have five stars now, same as many other people here. You need to find a way to put one more star there. :D :2: |

One of the reason I got the Maniks over the OEM sidesteps and the OEM boards. This very same thing happened to our last car(Durango). Scraped one of those pole metal protector in garages here in NYC. Perfect height. Inline with lower door panel. Pulled the wheel to soon. Sreeech... Cost me $300 to fix. Those still have question whether to get OEM side steps or boards, keep this thread in mind.
Manik sidesteps sticks out more, provides more protection. Oh yeah, it looks COOL!!! |

DaleB,
That's your second close call. Glad the Manik protected the side. You really need that rear camera. Haha.
How's Clovis?:) |

| Debating on Manik vs. Acura brand CHROME side steps. Any opinion on which is better. I hear Manik provides a lifetime guarantee. Not sure what Tim at Honda Acura World provies. Also, does anyone have a PICURE of the Manik sidesteps? I own a '03 Silver Tour X. :( |
