The company I work for is using Peachtree. Peachtree is pretty good for the price. But since the company imports, the lead time is useally 6 to 8 weeks. We need something that will forecast what's coming, what's on order and what are sold so we don't stock too much or too little. We can't afford MAS 90.
Anyone knows any software that is cheap and easy to use?
Thanks.

I'm with craig02mdx on the Quickbooks Pro. You can go to the Quickbooks website and sign up for a free trial. They will send you a CD with Quickbooks Basic, Quickbooks Pro, and Quickbooks Premier Accountant Edition all on the same CD. You can use each program something like 15 times as a trial to see which one fits your needs.
If you like a certain edition, you can get a serial number "key" to unlock the program for full use after paying for it.
I believe the web site is just quickbooks.com |

:)
Thanks...But Quickbooks is similar to Peachtree. I know some comany uses it.
My specific problem is:
1/1 10 pieces in stock
1/21 6 pieces schedule to ship per customer
1/15 10 pieces shipment coming
so I only have 4 pieces available to sell as of now
1/8 another customer call wanted to buy 8 pieces
Peachtree will display 10 in stock 4 available, but I can fill this order because 6 pieces don't need to ship until 1/21 and I have 10 more coming on 1/15.
In this case I lost an order because the software doesn't calculate what's coming. I need a software that will also take date into consideration not just quantity. I hope this is clear.
I did some research before. Peachtree and Quickbooks range from $200 to $700 depending on single user or network. After this is $10,000 or more software like MAS 90 (simple version), there is nothing in between. |

There is nothing in between. I also am in the import/distribution business, and we were forced to look at industry specific software in order to solve that very problem, along with handling EDI etc.
We are in the accessories business and use ADS Software. They are located in NYC. We have found their inventory management systems to be quite good. Depending on the size and product line of your company, you may find it to fit. |

Maik,
Thanks for the info.
What much was the software?
Are they a small software company?
Is there any yearly costs?
Is it a full function software including AP, AR, payroll, ect?
How's the support from them?
We import furniture components. |

Do they have a web site?
Thanks again.

The website is
http://www.appareldata.com/
We currently use the entire package, including AP, AR, Inventory, etc
I do believe that most of their client base is in the apparel and accessory businesses, but you may want to contact them anyway. Worst case they may be able to refer you to an industry specific solution for your application.
There are annual maintenance costs and we have found them to be very responsive and helpful.
I dont remember the orig cost, but the annual maint is in the area of $15,000.
Good luck |
