Has anyone had any experience with, or know of, a merchant that sells heated steering wheels. One designed specifically for the X would be nice, but any info would be a help.

Thanks,
Mike

I've never even heard of that. . .

No wonder the rest of the world think Americans are fat and lazy - conspicuous consumption. :)

For the record, I would not have opted for auto-on lights, rain-sensing wipers or heated outside mirrors if given a choice.

I have an 02, so the auto headlights and rain sensing wipers were not an option for me. However, I have them on my Bimmer and find them very useful, also I have used the heated mirrors on the X quite a few times....sure beats not being able to see out of them? Why would you not want the heated mirrors....I can understand how the lights and wipers would not be loved by everyone....but not the heated mirrors?

Because to me they are of as limited use as the silly wipers on headlights Mercedes uses.

I really wouldn't mind a built in shiatsu massager. . .

I never heard of a heated steering wheel , but I found a nice pair of gloves at Wal-mart, seriously they were cheap, black, provided a good non slip grip on the steering wheel, and are thin enough to adjust all controls with the gloves on, and most important very warm.

A shiatsu, OK I'll put all the seats down.:D

heated steering wheel is not yet available for any Honda/Acura car (not as I know of). But it is available on Infiniti I35 (I tested drive it before... and maybe on more Infiniti cars as well) It is very nice feature for people live in COLD area.

I don't like th AUTO Headlight feature as well. Not too sure if I like to auto-sensor rain wiper. But I think the heated outside mirror is really nice. It is nice especially in place where it rains and got COLD over night... then mirror could just cover by ice with all those rain drops. (For people who live down south/warm area, might just think it is a waste money feature, since they might never need to use it)

In the 10 1/2 years I owned my last car I can recall only one instance where the car iced up to the point where the mirrors were frozen and opaque. That was an ice storm in Jan of '94 I believe.

I just think an accessory like this is more of a bragging point than a real need.

Now I KNOW someone is gonna come back with "well, you probably will never need the airbags in 10 1/2 years with the X but it sure is nice to know you have them if you ever do".

I'm waiting...

crmnsidol,

The shiatsu massage and the voice can really lull you to sleep!!:D
Okay, well that depends on where the massager is strategically positioned.:18:

I use them when it's raining and I drive into an underground garage. The water vapor coming off the mdx fogs up the mirrors. Mirrors are very important in a parking garage when squeezing this truck into a tiny parking space.

Ok, I gotta jump in here with a few thoughts.

first of all, auto headlights and auto wipers are kind of pointless...I mean if its raining and your vision is obsurred, the first thing your going to do is ...TURN ON THE WIPERS...as far as lights, same thing...if its dark enough where they will make a difference to vision, then you are naturally going to turn them on...I find I turn them on to see my interior gauges also...so no auto need for these...just one more notch on the stalk that will wear out over time...

As far as mirrors, an absolute must. We are experiencing one of the coldest winters on record here and they often frost up. The heated mirrors work very well, and I wouldn't want to be putting an ice scraper on them...

Lastly, the steering wheel...When my buddy just bought a 03 Maxima SE, he was telling me about the "heated steering wheel"...I thought, give me a break, ...however, I borrowed his car the other day....and it was about -30 degrees. I gotta tell you that the heated wheel is heaven! Within minutes, its toasty, and a fabulous option that works well. Much like a heated seat. Yes, you can get way without it, but the comfort is not there. In a luxury vehicle, I would put this at the top of my list...or at least ahead of the wipers and lights thing....I don't like to drive with gloves as it makes it hard to work some of the smaller controls.
Or, if gloves are a bit dirty, gets the wheel dirty....

On this one, I must say that you can't knck it until you try it...

There's my 2 cents worth....

The heated mirrors are not just for iced over mirrors. The heat will clear fogged over mirrors as well, something that happens frequently here in the Pacific Northwest.

The rain sensing wipers are not designed for people who don't have the common sense to turn on their wipers when their vision gets obstructed, they are for getting just the right interval on the wipers to keep the windows clear, with the minimum number of wiper strokes per minute. My MR2 has variable delay on the wipers, which is nice, but I often find myself fiddling with it in drizzle or mist, to get just the right setting.

The Auto-on headlights might not be of value to you, but the auto-off feature that is part of that option could save you a dead battery someday if you forget to turn off the headlights.

Regarding the heated steering wheel, I suppose it was only a matter of time until one of the luxury marques did that, but I too consider it sybaritic and unncessary. I keep a set of driving gloves in the car, and if the wheel is cold, I put the gloves on until it warms up.

My $.02
