| I'm trying to add an additional LCD display to the factory RES on my 03 Touring. My installer says that he cannot find the video output from the DVD player as they are not labeled and not typical RCA jacks. Anybody out there done this successfully? I'm willing to buy any additional adapters or converters if needed. It seems that anyone who has added the NAV screen to the factory RES also encountered this question, but I haven't seen my particular question addressed in any threads. I don't have NAV, just want to add a screen. Thanks guys and gals! |

the_cabbage,
I was looking into the same situation a while back. The only difference is that I have the '03 Honda Pilot with the RES. I found the schematics for the DVD wiring, and I discovered that there are actually three- (3) video wires incorporated into the Pilot's Rear Controller's 26-pin harness...thus, no Video out.
Wire # 7 (WHT/GRN) is labeled Audio Unit (video)
Wire # 20 (BLK/WHT) is labeled Audio Unit (video ground)
Wire # 21 (GRY/WHT) is labeled Audio Unit (video shielding)
It appears that these wires would have to be spliced to add another screen. Probably not worth it...you would lose picture quality.
I may be wrong, though. Hopefully someone will give more insight on the situation and give us a quick fix.
I assume that the RES System on the Pilot is similar to that on the MDX. |
