Has anyone tried installation PC based navigation system in MDX. I mean we could get a Tablet PC (10" screen) along with Navman GPS E series.
It could serve multiple purpose, besides being just a GPS. It could further be enhanced as RES with an extra monitor....
Any thoughts in this directions. |

Already on it....and yep with the Navman Eseries USB. Take a look at this example of what I'm doing.....but I'm actually going to be upgrading the PC portion of the project to accomidate a dual video card so I can have an additional LCD for DVD movies, etc. for rear passengers.....

| Sounds like a great idea. I have an unused laptop and I can probably hook up to a Navman E Series. Does anyone know if the software that came with the Navman E Series has ability to do voice prompt and alerting of oncoming turns/exits? |

I'm also working on something similar. Already bought my GPS card, but I prefer compact flash so you can also plug it into a handheld. It's especially useful if you're travelling and end up with a rental. I travel overseas, so it's very useful to have the European maps in my iPAQ.
Teletype has maps for many cities, but the best navigation software I have seen for Windows is DeLorme's Street Atlas USA 2003.

For a very reasonable price ($49.99) it gives you a lot of feature including voice prompts. You can even add streets to the map. |
