Joshua Tree Woodtrim Pictures - Click HERE for Original Thread

Here are some pictures of the Joshua WoodTrim Kit. It looks like a perfect and is easy to install. I used a hair dryer to make the pieces soft and maleable. Be careful of not stretching the larger pieces when they are soft. I found that letting them sit and relax after taking off the backing off the glue was a good idea.

Joshua Tree folks were pleasant to deal with. I did need another of the small glue primer sticks they supplied and they were quick to get it to me.

Glove Box Trim

I did not use the piece supplied for the lock button. I think it will draw to much attention to the lock.

Overhead Trim,

Not a great picture - looks much better in person.

Mesa

Thare's a piece that you put on in the wrong spot... on the glove box - the little piece on the right is actually meant to be placed inside the left hole (thumb position) of the glove compartment lock. I'll try and post a picture to show you.

Your pictures look great! How well does the Joshua trim match the factor trim? Similar grain patterns?

Did the Joshua people give you any idea how the wood will look in a few years? Will it darken any?

Thanks in advance!
Here's how mine was installed:

FWIW, MB's positioning of that small piece to the right of the glovebox is consistent with the location specified for the exoticwooddash kit.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but in the paperwork the part is labeled left glove box.... Seemed to fit better in the left side of the lock than on the right edge to me :)

Here''s a pic of the center console BTW.

Regards.

That's weird...that piece on exoticwooddash's is in the schematic as "right of glovebox"...see piece 17 below.

BTW, the joshua tree looks great -- I really like the thin trim pieces around the overhead consoles -- exotic's were a bit too clunky-looking for my taste so I left them out, and lacked the thin "trim ring".

Rail,
What did you use for the right side of the glove box?

Maynard,
No clue as to how long they will last .. but I can't tell the difference between the factory pwood and Joshua Tree pwood so hopefully they'll age together.

KOT!

It looks really nice. Please let me know how much does it cost ? Thanks.
Amount : 157.75 (USD) including shipping.

Looks great. A couple questions. Is the kit real wood? What was the worry about stretching the larger pieces? It looks like the kit has pieces that are the same as the portions of the original dash that have plastic wood trim. Do the aftermarket pieces just fit over the plastic wood pieces on the dash?

1. It's pwood (plastic wood), not real wood, just like the original stuff.
2. Once warmed up, it's easy to stretch the pieces which make it harder to fit perfectly.
3. There are no overlapping pieces with the origianl trim pieces - all are unique.

I hate to tell you this but you put that piece in the wrong place. It definitely goes to the right, close to the door.

I have the exocticwooddash.com kit myself and installed it myself. It took me 2 1/2 hours with a hairdryer.

I get so many compliments and everyone can not tell which parts came from the factory or the kit. AWESOME !

Anyway. The kit rocks.

Enjoy !

I'm going to try to get some pictures taken on my brother's Sony Cybershot sometime soon.

MBeige:

I love that top piece that goes around the lights above the driver.

The exocticwooddash kit does not have that piece.

NICE !
Hey folks...it looks like Joshua tree has the brushed aluminum dash kit available. Can't get the link directly. Follow this, then hit Acura, then MDX.

A4L -- is your next post gonna be a question about how to remove the wood? :)

Maybe they'll let you buy just that piece. I tried getting just the rear cup piece from exoticwoodtrim but they said I had to buy the whole kit - they won't sell it separately.

Oh well!

To be quite honest with you, I thought I was going to love it, but I really don't like the look at all.

The wood looks MUCH more luxo !

Too each his/her own, but I am a HUGE fan of the wood trim.
The Steering wheel & shift knob are on the back burner.
A4L - I felt the same way...I thought the "mod" and rugged look of brushed aluminum might be kinda cool. But after putting on the wood trim a while back, I *really* like the look. "luxo" as you put it.

Very LUXO !

You like that word, right?!

LOL !

BOTH the wood kits rock !

I can see that you wood trim kit is for one with the NAVI, do they offer one for those without the NAVI?

Thanks
Yes they do offer All combinations. I ordered mine on Monday night and it showed up before noon on Wedneday. I think they have a special going but don't recall if it went Though or up to June 1. That's why I odered it now. 20 % off and free shipping. If only my MDX could be delivered that quickly after it was ordered. Oh well, still waiting for a few more weeks.
Hey everybody,

I spoke to my friend who has a 98 Accord couple about woodtrim and he told me that he was getting a kit that comes with molded pieces to directly replace the factory parts (instead of sticking an overlayed woodtrim on top of the stock pieces). Does anybody if these are made for the MDX? It would be really nice to just replace the entire piece.

Thanks
I would rather replace the existing also. And I would love it if they came out with REAL WOOD. The plastic stuff looks pretty tacky in my humble opinion.

Looking at your pic of the vent I noticed that there were no holes in the pwood trim that I think exist to indicate the direction to rotate the thumbscrew to open or close the vent. I noticed in some other gallery shots that the other wood trim looks like they have them. Minor detail ( I already have my trim so I'll install it when I get the MDX.) Just curious if those "indicators" were raised up or flush and you just covered them over.

TIA

1 - I don't remember - I can't have used anythin I covered(?) very much
2 - I am having a problem with the piece that goes around the display. I have been sent four pieces and none of them have been cut correctly. I am waiting for them to now go to an Acura dealership and re-measure the piece to cut it again. If you look at Rail's pictures you will see that the bottom right of that piece rises and does not meet the piece that surrounds the stereo so there is a gap. They have been very responsive and generally very anxious to please (hence the four pieces) so I am expecting a good resolution although it is going on three months now.

MB-

Those closed-circle/open-circle things you're talking about, which just indicate which way to spin the wheel to open or close the vent, aren't raised; they're silkscreened.
I checked the website yesterday when it was on sale. I do not think it really was a sale! They had a 14 peice set at a lower price than the regular 18 peice set. The total matched up the same as a regular 18 pc set. I think the sale was the availablity of a 14 pc only.
Anyway, their products look great and I plan to buy it when my MDX comes in..

18 Piece? I only remember seeing a 14 piece. What's the 18 piece?

Thanks
There are 4 more pieces for the front door trim. 2 per door.I checked their site this morning. The 18 pc was for $233.
I believe they have the sale back on now until 6/11. If you visit their site the 4 pcs are available separately and are called the door match trim.
I may check that out. However, when I bought mine (5/31) they only had the 14 piece available and I got it for about $135 delivered. I liked the price and a few pieces that exotic wood didn't have. But, at the time Joshua had no door pieces, exotic did.
FYI
