OK - I'm done and I like the result!
I disabled the Front Tweeters and do not miss them at all
I replaced the Front and Rear Door speakers with Infinity 652's with dynamat and tweeters pointed up - $170 total including new wiring clips
I had Circuit City intall an Alpine MRP-M200 mono amplifier mounted under passenger front seat to drive the subwoofer - $350 installed including creating a speaker mount (5/8" MDF) for a Polk 10" GNX subwoofer.
I replaced the Subwoofer with a 10" Polk GNX, low filter and Dynamat - $150. No enclosure - I stuffed and glued some padding around anywhere I thought there might be an airleak in the quarterpanel and I cannot hear any leak when running the subwoofer.
I can now keep the headunit bass down to drive the Infinity's with higher end signals and pump the Alpine to get great bass.
I did not touch the rear head liner tweeter - I can only hear it distinctly when sitting in the rear seat which I rarely do - it does sound shrill but when sitting in the front, the whole system rocks!
Total $670
