The flat 4 prong connector installed by Acura with their hitches is very very cheap. It's connected to the hitch with a thin strap of sheet metal.
I've always had big beefy sockets with my hitches. Some were bolted to the bumper.
Has anyone replaced their chintzy MDX hitch wiring connector with a big beefy hitch wiring connector? From where? |

After being rear ended by a big Mercury Grand Marquis, (Hard enough that my hitch receiver broke their steel front bumper support in two pieces) the little Acura connector came thru without a scratch!
I think that big & beefy would have been squashed.
Just my 2 cents worth. |

If they get through this, I will have more problems than a broken connector. |
