Wanted to say a quick thanks to the group (esp. nhatman and ron) for the great information posted here - - I was successful in getting my 2003 MDX up and running with the front nav screen playing the RES signal - for somewhere around 8 bucks.

I don't want to repeat a bunch of information already posted, but I'll attached a few pics and pin outs for completeness.

Thanks again fellas -

kirk_ryan, i'm glad my posts helped you out. does the location of the switch prevent you from closing the cup holder cover/lid?

It, in fact, does interfere with the lid... When I first decided to install it there, the clearance looked fine... what I didn't account for was the 'travel' of the lid while engaging and disengaging - it depresses further than it's final resting place during the operation. ( a fact that seems very obvious to me... now.)

I've just disconnected the spring - so I can close the lid - but it won't 'bounce' back open if you push it.

also - here is the pin-out for the stock DVD - seems to me I found this somewhere other than this forum

Just wondering if Kirk_ryan or nhatman can tell me the simplest way to connect my factory RES to play on my NAV screen?

I am not concerned with being able to view the rear view cam in any gear, just want to be able to watch DVDs on the front screen. What is the simplest and cheapest way of doing this?

Thanks!
nhatman
simplest and cheapest are mutually exclusive when it comes to having your factory RES play through your NAV screen.

simplest would be to spend a bit of money and get a plug-n-play set. but you'd you have use that diagram kirk_ryan posted above to get the video out signal from the RES system. that shouldn't be very difficult.

the cheapest way is the way we (kirk_ryan and i) have done it. using a relay and tapping into the rear camera video feed. but this involves taking apart some of your car's interior. which i strongly suggest using the Helm's service manual to help you out.

if you are interested in the latter, this thread should provide you with enough information to do that. it's a long read, but it has a lot of info; just start at the beginning.

good luck!

WILL THIS WORK ON 2004 MDX WITH REAR DVD AND NAVI ?:1:
I-MOD
Kirk, can you tell me how you pulled the signal from the OEM RES DVD player? I'm clear on how to tap into the NAV using the rear camera feed just not on how to input the signal to that from the RES DVD player

Thanks much!
D.
