Someone spraypainted My MDX - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a silver 2003 MDX. Vandals spraypainted my license plate and the rear hatch surrounding the licenxe plate. Paint also dripped down, onto the bumper. I've gotten most of it off with my fingernail (surrounded with a wet terry cloth), but there is still some overspray on the vehicle.

Anyone have any idea how to take care of this without messing up the paint job?
The vehicle has not been waxed since the initial purchase (maguair's wax), because it was too cold outside. So the only thing that has protected it thus far is the residual wax and clearcoat. Sooooo... any idea how to take care of the remaining overspray on the truck?

See if you can find TR-3 Resin Glaze at your local Checker/Kragen store. It will be in the wax section. It comes in a rectangular silver and blue can and is a liquid. Spread it on the overspray and leave for about 5 minutes, then massage-no need to rub-the wet TR-3 around until the overspray is gone. This stuff is a great wax, leaves a nice shine and gets rid of all kinds of gunk on your nice paint job. If someone opens their door onto your car and gives it "K-Mart rash" The TR-3 will get off their paint smear from your paint. Try it-it works!:1:

It was probably hit by a one of those confused career protesters. Someone did the same thing to the suvs around here. All the cars were left untouched. Its a form of terrorism.

Claybar will take it right off.

I have two questions:

  1. What kind of license plate or license frame do you have that would entice someone to spray paint it, and
  2. Where in Miami do you live that it has been too cold to wax your X (too wet, maybe)?

Sorry to hear about your incident, and I hope you get all the overspray off. Please let us know how the various products work, if you get a chance.

Go with the claybar. . . it's magical. I got house paint off my X.

The truck isn't in Miami at the moment :) , its in Tennessee. The license plate is just a regular Florida plate. The vandals also spraypainted choice words on the neighboring house also, so I'm guessing it was just a random act for idol minds. The weather was nice enough for shirts and shorts when I got back up here to Tennessee the other day, so my MDX got its second hand wash. I had just enough time to wash the vehicle before the temperature (and snow) fell.

I'm trying to find some clay bar at the moment. Autozone and other autoparts stores in Tennessee don't have the clay bars, so it looks like I won't have the chance to try the clay bar any time soon, (gotta order them). I'm leaning toward Zaino since this experience has impressed upon me the need to keep high quality paint protectant on my MDX. I'm also leaning toward Zaino because it comes with the clay bar (right?), and I have to order that anyway. I'll post how easy or hard the overspray comes off.

Thanks for all the help y'all!

I had the same problem with a snow bank. I am telling you, these things, (houses, snow banks, etc etc) could move pretty fast when they wanted to.
