Hi:
yesterday, I tried to install Boston Acoustic's FX 6 front speakers in my 03 x. It looks like to hole on the door frame is too small . I pushed them in but could not get any closer then about 1/4'' from the door frame. I secured the speakers with screws to the door but there is still a small gap.
My question: is leaving the gap Ok or should I try to make a spacer for it? If a spacer is needed, some kind of rubber or foam be OK?
The rear doors are even worse; the rain guard is just too small and the whole is even smaller. Even when I remove the rain guard, the sepakers won't fit snuggly and leavra 1/2'' gap!!!
Are there solutions other than cutting the hole to make it bigger? I am about to give up on the BA for the rear and get the Infinity as many of you have done. |

I have been considering the BA's as well. Please let me know what solutions you find.

I built up 2 layers of Dynamat as a gasket as well as cutting out a large portion of the back of the rain guard. This resulted in a very snug fit. Worth all the effort, BTW!
I maintained Infinity's in the rear doors. |
