NO PARTS! - Click HERE for Original Thread

On March 2 my MDX was involved in an accident. A small car
slid thru a stop light going about 30 mph and hit the right
front wheel of my car. Her headlight, fender and bumper were all completely damaged and hanging on the street. My car had scratches on the wheel and a little paint on the
fender. Her insurance company estimator (State Farm) gave
me a check for $332.00 and said thats all the damage they
could see. The body shop fixed the wheel and the nick on
the fender and then put it up to align it. The suspension was "messed up". They ordered and put on a new part and then said it still didn't "measure right". The parts they
need now are backordered until sometime in April if not
longer. It looks like I will be without my car for at least
two months if not longer. Someone on Edmunds said that this
happened with the ML and the BMW when they were new as all
parts are being used for production. I'm sure this is true
but you can imagine how unhappy I am ( the car only had about 2,800 miles on it). Anyway, take care of your cars,
the parts for repair are very hard to come by.
Sorry about what had happened to you, but at least you know your MDX is safe to drive. I think the reason for the parts back log is because Acura does not carry a lot of surplus on new parts and the supplier cannot keep up with the demand during the first year of production. I think the worst scenario is to wait for 1 month the most. Good luck on your MDX repair.
I am waiting for the right strut for more than a month now. Dealer says the left one is in, but the right one is backordered. I wonder if "The Thud" has anything to do with it. My car is OK to drive, but there are a few issues, such as P.S. Airbag issue, "Leaking Mirrors" and the rear wiper motor which, IMO, needs to be replaced. I want everything done in 1 shot. So, this wait is utmost irritating. (Even worth than waiting for the car itself!)
Mary 50;

Is it an independent body shop, or is it an Acura Dealer?

I could see the independent shop getting zero priority...A dealership would have a slight advantage, at least they could talk to AmerHonda. The shop has to go through the dealer, and probably just tell you what the parts guy tells them...

Sorry about the crunch.

Ard

PS. I've never accepted a check. I just tell 'em "I'll get it fixed and send you the bill" or I get my own estimates once the car is in the shop. Once I had a small dent in an expensive car. The adjuster claimed it was a $1200 repair. $5700 final total, which they paid (not happily).

I have been waiting for almost two weeks for a part I was in a minor fender bender crashed the driver front/side the bumper has a hole in it like a big bite.Ialso needed a new light about 1,000 worth of damage. It is at the Acura dealer.I miss my mdx so much
Have any of you called Acura's Customer Care Line?

About a month after I finally got my MDX, I had my Navi screen go blank. When I took it to the dealer to have it replaced, they said the parts were back-ordered for 4-6 weeks. I called the Acura number that I found on one of the threads on this site, and told them that after waiting 4-1/2 months for my car to arrive, I shouldn't have to wait another month for a part. I asked them if they could locate one from another dealer if they didn't have it in stock at the parts depot. The next day, I got a call from my dealer to tell me that a new navi screen was Fedexed to them directly from the factory in Canada. I also received a follow up call from Acura Customer Care to make sure that I was happy with the repair! The people that I delt with were awesome!..... Can't hurt to make a phone call!!
