car wash after Klasse - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi:
I recently put on Klass All-in-One and then Sealant. Now I need to wash the car; I should not use Dawn because it would take the selant off, right???

Also, how long is the Klass stuff last? 3 months??
Thanks.
jswift2000
Do not use dawn. I dont use Klasse but I know that Dawn will strip off everything you put on? Does Klasse make a car wash soap? You always want to use a good quality car wash soap b/c this will help lift the dirt away w/o stripping off a wax.

From what I've read, the Klasse can last up to 9 months. This longevity is one of the reasons I purchased it. Now if only the weather would cooperate...

Thanx. It's hard to imagine that it would last 9 months. How do you know if it's time for a new coat? Rain no longer beads??

Griot's Garage makes a wash that is guaranteed not to remove wax. (I seem to be on a kick here, second GG recomendation tonight)

I beleive that is usually a good sign. I plan on just doing it in the spring and then again in late fall and see how that works.

phins2rt and uvaone,

Was Klasse as easy to apply and take off as advertised? It's also advertised that you don't have to wait for Klasse All-In-One to dry before you wipe off, is this true? How many coats of the Sealant Glaze have you applied? Where did you purchase Klasse? Please give us your results / testimony so far.

Yes, its is as easy as they say. If your finish is fresh and un-oxidized, the All in One can be wiped on and wiped off. If you rub spots of tar or contaminant, they come off easily. No wait, no drying. I did each panel over a few times and they just got better. The top coat is the Sealant Glaze- it dries in a few minutes and wipes off. Just put the Sealant on very thin or it's tough to buff.
I got it from ConcoursDirect.com .

Thank you Shootist for your help and info with Klasse.

My order from Autogeek.net came in about 3 weeks ago but I only had time last weekend to detail my car. I ordered:

  • Klasse All-In-One Polish 330z.
  • Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze 33oz.
  • Pinnacle PolyClay Kit
  • Lexol Leather Cleaner
  • Lexol Leather Conditioner
  • Lexol Neatsfoot Leather Dressing
  • Lexol Vinylex

I started at about 8am and finished at about 1pm:

  1. Hosed down car to get rid of the excess dirt.
  2. Dawn
  3. While the car was still wet I clayed the paint. Make sure you use a lubricant like the one that came with the kit. I also rinsed off each panel after it was clayed to avoid streaks.
  4. Rinsed car again and dried.
  5. Klasse A-I-O Polish was probably the easiest polish that I have ever applied. The best feature about AIO is that you don't have to wait for it to dry and it comes off easily. APPLY VERY LITTLE TO EACH SECTION OF THE CAR. You can also use AIO on anything that is non-pourous (chrome, wheels, glass, etc.)
  6. You can apply Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze right after you polish the car. The Glaze was a little harder to take off but still much easier than most of the waxes that I have used in the past. AGAIN, USE VERY VERY LITTLE.
  7. Dressed the tires with Armorall
  8. Lexolled the leather, cleaner works great! Vinylex didn't clean well, scuff marks from my shoes on the driver's side door was a pain to get off.
  9. Finally, cracked open a Bud, pulled up a lawn chair and sat in my garage with my X and enjoyed the shine.

The following picture doesn't do any justice to the actual glossy shine that is on the car.

BklynMDX,
Gorgeous!!!:18::eek:

How did you apply the AIO? With cotton or microfiber?

Almost bought some special RainX car wash ...the kind that will not strip wax or polish. but sheets the water even more so it requires virtually little wiping to dry.

I use 12 Charisma towels for drying / taking off wax and polish / light dusting, terry cloth pads to apply AIO and foam applicators to apply wax. The Pinnacle and Lexol kits came with microfiber towels.

Plenty of towels and applicators to make life easier! ;)

Thank you guys for the compliments I really appreciate them.

The problem with having a nice shiny dark colored car is that EVERYTHING shows up on it. My car has become a magnet for dust, pollen, bugs, bird sh-tuff and lately tiny tree droplets. I have become neurotic about keeping my car clean. Before and after I take my X out I have to walk around it to make sure it is perfect. I've owned my car for over a month now and it has only seen rain once, and that was when I drove it home from the dealer. They are doing construction on a main road here and I drive the side streets (using my trusty Nav of course) to avoid the dust and pebbles. Does anybody know a good shrink, I think I may need psychiatric help?!? :(

You don't need a shrink - just this board! Many of us share your same feelings - just consider this board your "couch". :)

Just say to yourself 100 times "It is only a car, it is only a car" if that doesn't work then say it another 100 times, and if that doesn't want then just forget about and log on to the board and hang out with all the other MDX fanatics here.:D

You're absolutely right kishino! BTW Weather.com is calling for rain out here on the Island for the next 8 days so I WILL be hanging out on this board until the rain clears up. :p

Hopefully the water spots will come off easier because we have just waxed our Xs. ;)
