I just bought MDX premium (base) two weeks (13 days) back and already in dilemma that I should have bought touring with Nav.
Any suggestions, what I should do?
Should I trade in my brand new vehicle and get touring. I guess Acura does not have 14 or 30 day money back guarantee :(
Do you think, I will loose lot of money, if I go to Acura dealer. I just have put 470 miles so far/ |

| No harm in checking with your dealer, it will be interesting to see how much of a beating you may have to take. Please let us know what you decide. |

Why lose money on a trade-in in addition to the extra 2000+ you will need to plunk down for the upgrade.
Go find a Garmin Streetpilot III Navigator for under a grand and you can use it in any car.
Of course the 03 gets a rear camera too with Navi, which is nice.
My point being there is a lot more than the Navi to enjoying your MDX, like just driving it! |

Well said DaleB.
flrmnd_mdx - try selling it privatley. With the deman still out there for the truck you may find a seller who is willing to pay you msrp. Worth a shot. |

How about TTL
I can sell lesser than MSRP to a private party, and take a hit, but what happens to TTL that i paid, can that be adjusted for my new vehicle. |

Unless the dealer gives you a "I feel your pain." discount, it is paid to your state. Maybe the gov will give you a 'pardon' ....but Texas, I seriously doubt it!!!........:D |

But in Dealer Trade in.
he would be doing
New car cost - Trade In and I will pay Taxes for difference, isn't it |

Sometimes a dealer is willing to do the paperwork for you to sell to another private party. He will then treat this as a trade for your new car, saving you the taxes. My dealer in NC apparently does this frequently for their customers. He just charges the doc fee of $200. In my case, it would have saved me over $500 in taxes, even if I paid the doc fee myself.
I am afraid you will likely eat the title and license fees.:( |

I agree with Dale B. You are not losing much by not getting touring. Just upgrade the speakers with infinitys, get the Garmin Streetpilot III, add the $200 roof rack and bam you just saved yourself 5 grand.
Now what are you sitting around reading this for? Don't you have a vacation to book with the money you just saved???? |

Let me call the dealer tommorrow, lets see what he says.
Logically, if I think, I am better off with Premium and then do add ons, but I landup in cluttered console with extra stuff.
I really don't care for speakers etc, I am fine with Alpine, I am only missing Navigation :(
Otherwise, I will go with Garmin Street Pilot III |

flrmnd_mdx,
I picked up my MDX 3 weeks ago (touring with DVD) and I also regretted not getting the nav. I called the dealer and also a few other local dealers. The best I've heard so far has been that the original dealer will buy it back at their cost. I'm not sure how far below MSRP that is. Some of the other dealers have offered anywhere from $32K-$36K trade-in. So, I would lose all the tax and then some. At the moment, it's just not worth it. I'm still waiting to hear from two other dealers but I'm not optimistic. I may put a feeler out on Auto Trader to see if I get any bites. If so, a private sale may be in my future. |

yes, in that case, I landup loosing around 2-3K. I don't think its that worth it.
I might as well keep it for sometime and wait for 04 to come.
I love my MDX the way it drives and feel like keeping forever... :) |

I am sure in another month, this won't bother you this much. I agree with others, just get Garmin Street Pilot III and save you $$$.
If you can't live without touring/navi, sell the X in 2005 and get a brand new X. Because you get a smaller hit when the car is 2 or 3 years old. |

| I would not loose all that money just to have a Navi system. My 03 comes in tommorrow with Navi/RES but I had a BMW 330i I just traded in with NAVI its ok but you dont really use it that much and for the money your going to loose on it you will kick yourself in the butt later down the road. Use all that hard earned money on your house for granite counter tops or something that will make you money. Enjoy your MDX. |

| Yep, I agree with all of you. Losing that kind of cash is not very smart. I may also hold on for 3 years then trade-in on a new model. Maybe by then all the complaints that I've seen on this board will be addressed and will make for a better truck. By the way, I used some 3M mylar (self adhesive) to protect the B pillar from the seat buckle nicks and dents. |

I have the 2002 Nav and I'm not even sure that I would get it again. It's nice, but I'm not sure it's worth $2k to me. Perhaps the 2003 version is better.
Depends on how often you venture into areas you are not familiar with too. |

Good point!
Including Tax it will be more than ~$5,000 if you don't intend to get touring package to begin with.
Garmin Streetpilot III is having a $100 rebate til Jul & it's about $650 now. I used it to cover rare occasions(~once a month) when I go to new places. |

I have decided not to trade in right now, rather wait for couple of months and wait for 04 to come.
Since, I am anyway going to loose money, why not drive for some more time and wait for 04 as well.
I talked to dealer casually and according to him, I would be loosing out 3K right away that I am definitely not willing to do.
I would rather add GPS and entertainment system in the same amount. |

| Sorry for the size of the photos but I wanted to show detail. Glare will cause the tape to appear visible. Once the doors are closed and you're driving you don't notice the tape. Best of all no more dings. |
