How do you do.

My name is msy , I live in Japan. I had been looking at this site for some time. Because I wanted since MDX is put on the market. AND the dream came true. MDX is big in Japan, but I am very pleasant to drive. I want to travel various places by MDX.

I knew MDX sale in Japan, but I bought imported Canada specification MDX. Because JA-MDX is poor equipment partially compare US & CA-MDX. About this reason, I want to report from now on by HP(I'm sorry,HP is not up yet). And please let me know many things.

I'm sorry in my poor English. Thanks.

Welcome to the site! Be sure to include pics and keep an eye out for genuine JDM aftermarket parts. Some of us might look for some imports :)

Welcome~~~~

I guess you will see MANY people looking over your MDX when you drive around in Japan. You might be the first person with MDX with driver seat on the left, while all other MDX's is on the right side.

You could also post some news for us here regarding to the MDX accessories from Japan, such as MUGEN/performance parts?

Welcome msy,
As always in japan, people do tons of mods to their cars.
Have you heard of anything that companies like Tom's that is coming out with kits and other goodies?

Thank you for giving such much reply!

I want to do my best so that your expectation can be met. The area in which I live has the factory and R&D of Honda. Therefore, I see many Honda vehicles. And one more car which I own is also Honda. In the United States or Canada, it is the car which is not seen. The car is a very interesting car. I think that what is
necessary is just to be able to tell not only MDX but various contents after this.

Thank you!!

What car may that be:D ? I am very interested in other Honda's. Is it a Stream or an Accord Wagon? Or is it something else? Maybe a Stepwagon or Mobilo?

Interesting .... I notice that the steering wheel is on the left side. You said you bought the MDX according to the Canadian specs - so that is the reason. I'm curious as to whether there are any laws in Japan regarding driving a car with the steering wheel on the left side?

I don't know about this but I know you couldn't push the button for the parking ticket when you first arrive :D

When I take a parking ticket , I have to get off a car. But depending on a place, a left-steering wheel drive may also be OK.

Japanase rord is a left-hand side run, when turning to the right, Japan's opposite lane is hard to see. But MDX's eye point is high.
I'm not worry. It is very easy, when curving and bringing near a car by the left. In Japan where especially a road is narrow, it is found useful.

There is a field Minus and there is also a field of plus.

msy_tkhs,

I bought my MDX in Canada before moving to the USA. Now I'm getting relocated again (this time to Tokyo) and am regretting the fact that I may have to sell it. I just love my MDX...it's a great family car, yet it's still a fun guy's car.

msy-tkhs: can you tell me what the procedure is to import the car into Japan? Did you do it yourself or use a special broker? I have a Canadian model but am currently in the US (east coast). How much did shipping the MDX to Japan cost, and what other "fees" did you have to pay? How about the shakken? Are there other "expenses" do I need to consider? All together, how much will it cost? I've checked out the website in Japan and noticed that the price for the MDX in Japan is about the same as in the US. I'm trying to figure out if it makes more sense for me to ship my old one over there or to buy a new one in Japan.

Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi tsai_guy.

Although I tried to import a car personally at first, since export was refused by the ACURA dealer, I gave up. Therefore, the car asked the import selling company and was purchased. If experience when purchasing personally may be used, it can let you know.

US to Japan transportation cost:100000-200000YEN
Import vehicle inspection expense:400000YEN(Into inspection, the charge of exhaust gas inspection is very expensive!)
SHAKEN(In Japan,it is necessary to inspect a car every 2 or 3 years, and to register the owner of a car.A tax is also then paid.):100000YEN.

You have to paid over 600000YEN imported your car.And procedure is very serious.

If I am you, I will buy J-MDX tearfully. You will buy under 5300000YEN(about 45000 US $) now.

Now, one CA $ is 88YEN. When I imported my MDX, one CA $ was 78YEN.Therefore, I was able to buy MDX at a low price.

It seems that MDX was put on the market in Japan in March and 500 sets' incidentally sold at last.

The cost to buy a new Japan MDX was about $45,000, what would the cost be to ship your's there in American Dollars?? Including the exhaust inspection or conversion.

I think that about 200,000 yen takes probably for carrying a car to Japan from the United States. Furthermore, although inspection is required, I think that it is difficult to let inspection pass only by one's power. The first problem may be Japanese. Although cost starts to surely carry into Japan, there is also a method of asking a contractor. The contractor to whom I purchased Canada MDX had also told the United States that there was a network. I think that there is value heard although cost starts.

What's the conversion on 200,000 yen to american dollar's?
msy_tkhs
Today's rate is one $US equal 118 YEN. Therefore, 200000YEN is about 1700 $US. If export cost is 600000YEN, it is about 5100 $US.
High or Low?
