Recommendations and Pricing.
Hello everyone, I am about to buy a MDX and I just wanted to get some feedback from current owners before I went ahead and put money down.
I am thinking about getting the Sage color w/ Quartz leather. Touring pkg + Navigation.
Other options: Chromed Step up rails and sun roof wind guard.
The quote after title tax(5%) and registration fees....is around 44,100.
First, what do you think about the choice of options? And secondly, is this too much?
Thanks,

Brad,
Nice color and choice in truck. I assume the truck is at MSRP and y ou can try to find a better price but depending on where you live, you may not find it.
I wouldnt buy any options from the dealer b/c of the price. Buy them from Tim (his screen name is Hondacuraworld) as a great price and do them yourself. I bought my sunroof visor from him for $46 (I think) and it took me 5 mins to install.
I hope this helps and good luck. |

It seems like the dealer is not charging you destination and fees in your quote which is GOOD because now you can go back and haggle for a better price. If this quote is including these accessories installed then this is a VERY GOOD quote depending on what part of the country you are from (Albany, Boston, Honolulu, I think you might be lost :p ).
If this quote does not include the accessories make sure the dealer does not tie you down into buying them in order to get the 44,100. Dealers are notorious for heavily over charging their accessories.
As jswift2000 said buy your accessories from Tim at Hondacuraworld.com. You will also save a lot if you install them yourself. If you don't feel comfortable or if you don't have the time to do the install yourself, go back to the dealer's service department and have them do it for you. You will still save plenty.
Good luck. |

As your describe, Touring with Navi is MSRP @ $40500 + $500 destination, which comes $41000. Adding 5% of tax comes around $43050. So the dealer is charging you about $1K for other fee(s) and accessories.
If you think you could install those accessories by yourself, you could order them from Tim at hondacuraworld . I think the chrome side steps and moonroof deflector will cost you around $500 from Tim, which is about half price of what dealer asked.
So the price that dealer gave to you is a okay deal, and you can still find some way to save some money. |

MSRP.
Okay, so I guess the thing is....did everyone buy their car at MSRP?
I will be purchasing from the only dealer I found with this car in stock. They are located north of boston a bit.
Are there dealers in the north east area (NY, CT, MA) that will sell below MSRP?
And as for the options...is it hard to install the setup/runners on the car? If they are just "bolt-on" then I don't mind doing it, but if there is any welding or cutting or drilling involved, I may be hesitant.
Thanks again,
Brad |

| The chrome step install should be no problem at all. Just some (ok a lot) of bolts and nuts. Just make sure you have metric sockets and wrenches for the install.:D |

No sure if everyone still pay MSRP in Northeast area.
But both side steps and moonroof deflector installation should be easy. You will spend about 1~2 hours on side steps and possible 10 minutes on the deflector. |

Jedi, a couple of comments on accessories:
Depending where you live, sunroof visor may be a pain. I live in MA and during the winter, snow and ice get stuck under it, which I don't like. Also, it blocks part of the view from the sunroof.
I personally like how the other side steps look on MDX (non-chrome), but it is just my opinion.
I would also add the body side molding (BSM) - it is not expensive and it helps in preventing dings. |

| Be forewarned though: The side steps are ANNOYING and time consuming to install. There are like 500,000,000 screws. :p |

Hmm...thanks for your feedback. I'll get it w/o the options and just see if I wanna get them later.
I do like sidesteps...maybe the flat ones will be better looking than the round black/chrome ones. Just wanted some bling bling on this car ya know :2: |

Good decision!!! Once a while, Tim will have accessories on special. You will be saving more money once they are on special. |

| I am waiting for my 2003 X to be delivered. The price was $43,200 (minus tax and title/tags) for a black on black touring with Navi, rear entertainment, wood wheel, wood meter trim, moonroof deflector, rear spoiler and chrome side steps. Do you think think this is a good deal. I was thinking about asking for a few free accessories (such as wheel locks, all weather mats or free 7500 service) upon delivery. Let me know what you think. Thanks. It is due to arrive by the beginning of 5/03. |

Okay guys..I finally put money down. Just waiting on my financing quotes to come through from AAA.
I negotiated to 1000 off MSRP on a SBP Touring / Navi. (40,000) no options or ttl.
I think I may just have the dealer install the side steps for me (chrome) they will charge 775. I'm just too lazy!! :)
As for the sunroof visor, I really like how it looks and I'm torn between getting it and dealing with the issues with the snow stuck in it during the winter. I'm leaning towards just buying it (99.50 installed by dealer) because I don't think I'll be opening my sunroof in the winter....
As for the BSMs I haven't looked into them...they don't really look like they protect the door much....am I wrong? They are so little!!
So with everything together...including tax title and my two options.. the total comes to about 43,300 or something like that.
Everyone Cross your fingers and hope i get the 3.99% from AAA financing!! :4: |
