Have any of you do-it-yourselfers changed your transfer assembly fluid? The manual calls for a change at 45,000 miles. I've never seen any mention of anyone doing it themselves on the forum.
What made me curious is my friend bought a new pilot, we were compairing maintenance schedules and noticed the Pilot doesn't require changing fluid in this assembly at all. Just curious. |

The 'transfer assembly' is an extension of the transmission output. It shares the same ATF with the transmission. It is changed at 45,000 for normal service, or 30,000 for severe service. (Both intervals are too long if not doing a complete-out, IMO. See several discussions on this.....) |

| Thanks Dale, that explains it. I tried a search using "transfer" and didn't come up with anything. Actually, I just looked in the manual and the Transfer assembly calls for SAE 90 or SAE 80W-90 and of course the AT calls for ATF-Z1 (automatic transmission fluid) so I'm still confused. |

I would be confused too. No such distinction in my '02 manual, maybe someone can clarify this. |
