Gold Emblem installation - Click HERE for Original Thread

Perhaps this has been discussed elsewhere but I have been unable to find it. Has anyone ordered the front and rear gold emblems and installed them themselves? I haven't bought my MDX yet and I am trying to decide which accessories I will have to get from the dealership. Any suggestions on the emblems?
but I decided not to get it. I was going to get all the gold (front and back, exhaust) where ever you could get the gold. One reason I decided not to get them is because you couldn't get gold rims and it wouldn't match the handles or anything. So since they didn't match what else was on the truck, I decided to save my money on them and go with the navi.

I have the gold kit except for the exhaust on my truck.... I think it looks great with the mahogany... and I had the pinstripes painted gold and silver to match the gold kit and the aloy rims. Pictures at the link below.

My dealer installed mine for me (free of charge) when they installed my rear deflector.

I think the gold emblems look great and kinda broke my heart not to get them, but I wanted that navi. I just found reasons not to get the gold emblems. I got the nighthawk black and thought the gold would look really nice, but I passed.

I guess my opinion doesn't help on installing your gold package does it? SORRY.

Oh - the Navi's a must... however, the gold kit is something you can always add to your truck later.... and Tim's (http://www.hondacuraworld.com) price was great.

I think the gold kit would look really nice on the black MDX.

Rail...Your MDX looks great...I already said that somewhere. I'm planning the same packaging. Where is the pinstripping; almost looks like you have two? One under the windows and another even with the door handles, but might be the reflection. Sounds like you had it custom done...we're thinking along the same lines there. I'm adding side bars...maybe fender flares painted to match. Adding flares? Rubstrip? My main reason for the flares was to protect the wheel wells and to add some bulk that I'll need to balance the rubstrip. Thoughts? I'll have to nab those fender flares next week to catch Tim's special.
Thanks D

The line at the same level as the handles is a reflection in the bright California sun -- the pinstripes are very close to the the window line, and very close together -- I had them painted on by a local guy in the valley: (818) STRIPES

He did offer to paint other areas of the vehicle, and keep the lines going around the back... but I wanted to keep it simple (and a little more elegant IMO).

My side steps are being powder coated silver as we speak.... and I should have them in a couple of weeks - when I'll have them installed by my dealer at the same time as they install my wood steering wheel.

BTW - I can't believe your incredible patience... I would have contacted other dealers by now.... Keyes in Van Nuys promises delivery in 2 to 3 weeks at MSRP with no forced options -- not that they'd be my first choice of dealership. I bought mine in Valencia.

Regards.

Right after we ordered ours I emailed Tim (HAW) about this issue and he responded (very promptly) that the back was fairly easy but the front required removal of a lot of front end parts to get the clips or something that holds them on. I realize this is not much of a technical response but my impression was it was not very easy to do.

GG Base due April
I installed the rear gold kit tonight. It was easy and only took about 1 hour. I used fishing line to to cut the emblems off. You then need to clean the old adhesive off with rubbing alcohol and then you can simply stick the new ones on. The only tricky part was the gold A emblem had clips on it and if the old clips stay in the trunk lid after you remove the old emblem you have to take the new clips off the new emblem. I know I didn't explain that well, but if you have the part in your hand I think it will make sense.
I plan to try the front emblem tomorrow. It will be much involved. You have to remove the five clips securing the top of the front bumper, then remove the 2 self tapping screws, two clips and four bolts securing the front bumper underneath. Pull the front bumper out toward you, then disconnect the fog light harness connectors, and remove the bumper. You can then remove the front center molding and have acess to the front emblem which is held on by 2 push nuts.
Hopes this help
first off dont buy emblem kit from dealer, get it from TIM, its really easy to install, just be sure when you take the chrome letters off that you clean all of the old tape off before you install the gold ones
