Looking good Dale. Every time I see a GG or a picture of a GG I wonder why in the world did Acura discontinue that color.
Bet it is difficult to keep the dust off with all that construction in your neighborhood.
How come no rear pictures?? :8:  |
|

| I will throw in a couple tomorrow. Remember I still have the self-inflicted ding in the rear. However I bought the ding king for the H of it, and it actually worked to a degree. Got rid of the big 'dish' to a couple of small dings. You be the judge, will try to post tomorrow. In the meantime ... it heads back into the 'barn' which is finally a cleared up garage...... |

Most the homes near us are at completion, fortunately. At least as far a carpentry goes. But yes, still lots of dust flying around. My California Duster gets a good work out. |

I wonder the same thing!
Hey DaleB, the next nocal meet is at your house... right?
:p |

| The X loves the area. I get out on some of those rural roads and lookout!!... the HIDs get a good work out at night....really worth it down a 2 lane road...with zero street lighting. |

They have a big room I can reserve for activities at the rec center. Right on the lake.. great fotoshoot for the X's.
Greatscot Im sure will agree, Clovis is a great area for such acitivities..everything you need in the way of food and drink, etc. is central. |

| Looking good, DaleB! I have a Zaino question for you and others. I put 5 coats on before winter set in. Now that the warm weather is here, I am ready to apply more. The question is - is it necessary to clay bar again ( there doesn't appear or feel like much is on the surface)? If I should clay bar, is it necessary to Dawn wash again first? |

You are welcome to come over and help me landscape the back :D
Seriously, I wish I had looked around this area 5 to 10 years ago, we would be talking 'estate'.
But for my stage of life, this is enough for us. |

No, I don't believe any of that is necessary. If you did that initially as part of perparing the surface for Zaino, and you have maintained the finish as far as regular washes, and periodic re-coats, you should not have to do anything else.
Like I said, it's been 4 mos. for me. My past experience has been improvements as washings and more coats continue. It has been shedding water just fine, and things should only improve with regards to the shine.
If you do clay bar, you might as well use Dawn, not much Zaino left after claybarring. My preference has always been, Dawn, Clay Bar, and Dawn again to remove any residue. A bit anal, but I've only had to do it one time. |

That would be great, we could do a BBQ at the lake, a day run to Yosemite or the Giant Sequoia's, and do the loop back down past the Sierra lakes. :2: |

She looks great, I just did mine the first time in 5 months and it came back great to. I used Klasse for my first application, and I will follow up with the clay bar and the regular zaino application. Then I'll update my pic's also. Your neighboehood looks great! Love those houses going up in the back, they look great. I'm in the process of upgrading from a townhouse to a single family home and going crazy with the prices here on Long Island. I'm almost thinking of relocating. Out of curiosity what are the price ranges and taxes where you are? On Long Island 500K and 10K in taxes doen't get you much. |

Paul,
In the newer developments around Clovis, CA homes are selling from about $220K to $400K. That is graduating from a std. 3br/2ba single story home to upscale 4-6br/2-3ba homes. We pay $104 a month to live in a gated community. That fee will drop as low as $70 as homes are purchased. No community mail boxes, we each have our own. Yes, community mail boxes are becoming common in new developments.
For our money we do get a fully landscaped neighborhood including small parks in each subdivision, use of Lake facilities, remote security gate, and assurance your neighbor wont put a C Band satellite antenna on his front lawn, paint his house bright orange, or do everybody’s oil change in his driveway, or hold practice for a heavy metal band in his garage.
The man-made lake has light boating accommodations, it’s stocked for recreational fishing. No swimming. But there is a large pool and spa available, as well as a large meeting room that can be reserved by homeowners.
The landscaping is beautiful. All in all, it’s worth the 100 bucks a month IMHO.
This is not senior city. It is a fully open family neighborhood.
There is some 15 miles of trails around the Lake for biking and jogging with easy access from any subdivision.
At Quail Lake (where I live) and Clovis in general:
Semi-custom range from 300K to over 500k at which point you are breaking into full custom homes. No ceiling on those…
Property tax is roughly 1.25% including school bonds, etc.
Typ homeowner’s insurance is $600-900 a year. Earthquake endorsements are rarely purchased. Fresno/Clovis is not located near a major fault.
Water quality, good..but high calcium, magnesium, etc.. Low iron content in most areas.
Air quality variable…can be bad for allergies, this is a valley surrounded by millions of agriculture acreage. Winters are cold but nothing compared to what you are used to, a fair amount of rain, more fog than we like. Summers get very hot, typically humidity is low.
Crime is low in Clovis, high in neighboring Fresno, but primarily in South Fresno which is some 15 miles away.
Public Schools are very good. Higher education is somewhat limited to Fresno State University, numerous trade and vocational schools, big on agriculture as to be expected.
This is a service industry. High tech is limited to some communication businesses.
Many hospitals and specialty clinics close by.
Shopping convenience excellent, all major stores are within several miles.
Sports and cultural activities are supported and increasing.
There are Indian casinos less than an hour away. As are the Sierra mountains,
national parks including some incredibly beautiful lakes.
About 2 hours away from the Monterey Coast, 3 hrs from San Jose, 3 ˝ from Oakland/SF. About 4 hrs from greater Los Angeles area, and 6 hrs to San Diego.
Real Estate appreciation in this area is averaging as much as 2% a month. New homes prices are generally stable for about 6 mos. at a time. I can get you connected with good lenders, etc. if interested. I am sure greatscot has many resources he has gathered in his time here. Good luck in whatever you decide to do! |

Good info! I don't know the significance of those faults. Of course many states have faults...but it's the activity level that is troubling.
Or the history..etc.
Have never heard it was a concern here, but guess they never are until something happens. |

Thanks for all the information, it's very tempting to leave New York State. It's amazing what you DON"T get for good money in New York. That community sounds great and the cost of living is excellent. I'm still going to hold out for prices to drop. Not going to rush in for the amount I'm looking to spend. |
