:6: Imressive toys!
2002 Acura MDX!
Sweet Glider:drool:!!!!!!!!! How much does it cost ya?
ridgelift
Today I played hooky from work and had a chance to play with both toys on the same day! I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like more:

MDX:
- Much better tunes than glider
- Will never (hopefully) need a tow
- The family can come along for the ride
- Always has a woman's voice telling me where to go

Glider:
- Can go 140mph with no worries about speed traps
- When it comes out of a loop it still looks the same
- Can pull more G's than MDX
- Doesn't have a woman's voice telling me where to go

My wife would never let me spend this much money on my toys. The best I could do was a full-suspension mountain bike (SPECIALIZED - Stumpjumper FSRxc Disc), and it took me several months and lots of begging :6: to convince her to let me do it.

Cool looking bike. I'll bet you could loop it if you're good! ;)

Holy crap! You must be rich! If your dad owns a helicopter company, why don't you buy a MDX?

Should buy 7, one for each day of the week.
ImOnlyTen
My dad works for ADB, which is sort of like the World Bank. He is a executive director (he makes documantaries). We don't own the helicopter. ADB just lends it to us.

Guys, you need to stop showing your bikes!!! You're re-igniting my obsession with them. Ugh!!!!

Here's my retired CBR: (God I miss it!)

Here are the other two toys:
MDXRAT
And now for something completely different!
A utility trailer!!!
MDXRAT
hehe
I have had a blast with this lil "toy", must be some long lost Tractor and Trailer memories from my youth.
Now.. I do have many many other "toys".
Perhaps my Faves are my current Computer set-up, and my Home theater. I have approx 25-30K in my system.
Will discuss that "toy" in the appropriate forum.
dleasman
Hmmmm.... This is a tuff one...

Our family summer toy (since traded ml430 for mdx)
it's a Y2K SeaDoo Challenger2000 240efi, fully loaded.

My personal summer toy... Specialized Enduro Pro. This was my reward from my wife for completing all the landscaping work around our yard that spring (some seen behind me and bike). I decided to try mountain biking... So far I have hit 4 trees, but having a good time at it. The bike now has many scratches and dings, as do I.

My baby, and daily ride... 1998 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro Sport
(you can see the boat again, parked behind it)

My wife and daughter in the 2002 Audi TT Roadster Quattro
(notice how bare the yard was BEFORE I landscaped)

My year round toy, hobby, and the backbone of our home...
my home network (there are also machines w/flat panel displays around the house) Don't try this at home, boys and girls... It's WAY too time consuming. It's also been expanded on since this picture.

I won't even get into my wifes toys... But I like to think that I am one of them! :D

admin,

Wow, you're right that your post didn't need any extra commentary!

Dare I ask - you don't have one of those in your house, do you?

The 01 Vette will be going away this fall to be replaced with a MDX.

Who tows you? I don't have the endorsement on my pilot license, but it would be a RUSH to tow a glider and see it soar!

WAY too cool!

ridgelift
BlueStreak,

If you've got 100 hours PIC you can get the endorsement (see FAR 61.69). Our club has a Cessna 182, Cessna BirdDog and Piper Pawnee as towplanes (see our soaring club web page), and like most clubs we're always looking for more towpilots. If you're interested, check with your local soaring club and see if they can teach you to tow. You can check the Soaring Society of America web site to find the closest club to you.

I hope you give it a try - we're always looking for more people to join the sport!
Scott W
Thanks for the compliments, phins2rt & mdxxxx!

I have totally babied that car, modifying it literally from the day that I picked it up 9 months ago.
I had to fly to So. Cal to pick it up, as I found a dealer where I could simply pay "sticker" after 3 months on a waiting list and 3 months for it to be built, vs. Bay Area dealers, who were getting $5-10K over sticker...

Now I have gotten excited about the purchase and now customizing of the "X" (never cared too much about the Durango!), with tires and wheels the first thing on the list.
Trying to decide between 19's & 20's...
BlueStreak
I remember reading about gliders and towing when I was getting my license and thought it would be a real blast. No engine, riding the thermals, and just enjoying the experience.

I will educate myself more on gliders and specifically towing them. I hear people at my local airport talk about them, but I don't hear any mention of a specific club.

I want to keep learning as a pilot so I was considering going for my instrument rating. VFR is great, but sometimes with weather and going into busy airports, IFR can really pay off. Or I could learn how to tow, or do both. Just takes time and $....

Stay safe, thanks for the info, and enjoy your X.
Mr. Mom
Any new toys this year? I’ve had this tolly for 12 years now and enjoy cruising inside the Vancouver Island area. Gas prices have slowed me down somewhat but did manage to take my daughter and her buddy to this place for a few days. Thinking of selling, like saying goodbye to an old friend though.
