My lovely X was in for 30000,
so they gave me a brand new TSX to drive.
I was so happy, as they show me around the car, the other guy is putting in the carpet. It only have 35 miles on the car.. brand new 2004 TSX!
TSX have good designs in and outside of the car, love the auto open trunk, the inside was great with different styling then RSX or TL, but I love it!
It has much more power then RSX, was fast, but the acc. was not as smooth as RSX or TL. Break feels a bit weaker then RSX or TL. With the Gas lid, you will never lose it (it's got a link on it so it can't left the car) but for sure you will get some gas on the car.. I guess u win some and lose some..
Over all, I still like TL better, for the ride and handling. My girl love the TSX more she fight to drive it. If $$ is a issue, I'd get TSX if not, I'd still get TL.
PS. when will they make the beautiful metal trim for MDX? @#$@#$@# |

| Right now, I have to buy a car soon. My choice are, the TSX, TL (-S), and the Honda Accord EX V6. I looked at the TSX and fell in LOVE with it! With the projector lights and everything, it's a beautiful car! What do you guys recommend. The dealership is giving very good deals on TLs because the new ones will be coming in shortly and they have so many on the lot. So, I think I can get a TL-S for a pretty good price. What shall I do? |

I'd wait and see what's the deal with the 04 TL..
03' TL - better ride, very smooth at high speed, better suspentions, bigger..
04' TSX - cool design, better MPG, smaller, newer, could have factory mp3, different interrior design then the rest of the Acuras (TL,RL,CL,MDX)
I'd still chose TL-s.. Just test drive both and see which one you like since $$ don't see to be a big problem for you.
Hope that helps..

MotorWeek is now showing their review of the TSX. It's a very positive review, with them praising the vehicle's sporty handling. They say it's comparable to the more expensive sport sedans.
Their primary complaint was "bland" and "pedestrian" styling that looked like it borrows from everything from the RL to the "entry-level Honda Civic."
Some TSX fans are disappointed by MotorWeek's 7.6 second 0-60 time with the 6-speed manual, though. They had hoped for 7.0 seconds or even better. MotorWeek's times are usually among the fastest of all the shows/magazines. Though it's possible that the weather that day contributed to a slower run. |

I was thinking all you'd have to do is put the whole name on it, YUGOslavia, but then there may not be enough room, that's probably why they called it a YUGO in the first place . . .:2: |

William,
It's funny that you interpreted the MotorWeek review of the TSX as "very positive". I have been a long-time viewer of MotorWeek, and since we have been half-heartedly looking for a replacement for the IS300 for a while now (ok, I'm the one who's getting itchy for something else), I often invite (request!) my wife to watch any segment that reviews a car of interest. So while she has seen maybe 10 segments over the course of a year, she quickly determined on her own that MotorWeek must follow the adage that if you can't say something nice about a car - don't say anything at all. "Does that John Davis ever give a bad review? He seems to recommend every car that they test"
So after talking the TSX up since it's release, her interest was piqued in seeing the MotorWeek review. Unfortunately, her reaction from the review was one of "damned by faint praise". Given how loose MotorWeek typically is with their plaudits, all that she heard was that they thought it was slow and plain looking. Even *she* was dissapointed in the 0-60 time:eek: (uh-oh, I've unintentionally created a gearhead) |

Don,
Interesting. It is true that MotorWeek usually says mostly positives, but I have seen reviews when they mentioned a negative item or two. Heck, in their 2001 MDX review they mentioned the tail stepping out (which hopefully the 2003 has corrected). I thought the most severe criticism they had for the TSX was for the "bland" styling.
Here's the on-line version of the review, now available on their web site:
http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2235a.shtml
I dunno ... going from an IS300 to a TSX seems like a step down to me. |

Yes, I think that is what unsettled her. The fact that the review hit it's "two negatives" limit ;) :
quote: Yes, the styling is ordinary, and the engine has only 4 normally aspirated cylinders....
The rest of the review was ignored.

Yes, I will probably evaluate 10-15 cars before deciding - the TSX is simply interesting to me. The IS is a 2001 model, before they offered a manual transmission (I didn't think I would miss it that much). Tops on the list continue to be the G35 Coupe, the RX-8 (Just one more month away now) and the old standby the WRX. |

donsev..
I'd say test drive all the cars on your list!
After all it's not just the way the car looks, it's how it drives and feels indside!
Most of the time you will be in the car and not standing outside looking at it.
After you test drive all those car on your list, maybe give us a report? :2:
I am sure it's gonna be 100000 times better then stupid auto week's report.

Well, I am evaluating a number of cars, but will probably only have time to test drive half that. I am really anxious to take the RX-8 for a spin. I am concerned about the torque (lack of) - so much so that I have tried to plot out on graph paper the torque curves of the G35, WRX, TSX and RX-8 to give me an idea of what to expect.
But you are right, I care less about the image and more about getting something that is just pure fun to drive (heck, what else would explain the interest in the WRX ;) )
(Oh, almost forgot, also looking at the MINI Cooper-S, Yeah, a pretty eclectic bunch.) |

The MINI is exciting, but nothing compared to the original I grew up with. Anyway, I found it fun but the real "Cooper" in me said the new one is not a real mini :28: |

Well, as they say, you can never go home again.
I think the MINI is a fairly well done interpretation of the original (my wife is the one that is really in love with it - "It's soooo cute"). But I am a little disappointed in the just released J.D. Power initial quality survey placing it just above Kia at 166 problems per 100. Although, to be fair, this is only slightly worse than Saab (sorry William) and Saturn. And not to be unexpected with the introduction of not only a new automobile, and a new car line, but an entirely new company.
Sorry we are drifting off-thread here... I hope to test drive the TSX as soon as we need service on the MDX (never thought I would be looking forward to having to take a car in for service ;) ) |
