The Toronto Star did a comparo between the MDX and the top of the line M-Class today. They tried to pick a car that was close to twice the price to see if it was twice the vehicle. The Results:
ML: the winner off road
ML: winner in opulence
MDX: winner in functionality and quality of interior - "Simply put, the MDX interior is one of the smartest, most comfortable in the business"
MDX: superior ergonomics
Stereos: both use Bose - neither was particularly impressive
Engine: The ML 342 hp 5.5l v-8 was awesome to the writer
Conclusions: ML hardly worth twice the price. "In fact, for most day-to-day use, the MDX is the superior vehicle, with better visibility, better fuel economy, and a more versatile, well made cabin.... The MDX stands out as a paragon of SUV value... it sets the new standard, blowing similarly priced trucks out of the water- and fairly challenging far mor expensive models like the ML55." |

If the very long link above doesn't work, go to http://www.torontostar.com and search for "mdx".
I think it's a bit of a strange article, though it's nice to see the MDX do so well. However, if I had $92k to burn on an SUV (which would probably mean I'd have about $80k to $120k to burn on a sedan), I don't think value would be my first priority, and I might get tempted by the concept of having 342 horses.
Then again, with that much money, there are some nice sports cars to look at instead of trying to get high HP in an SUV, of all things!
(Funny how $92k still doesn't buy a good stereo ...) |

| Went to the Dallas Auto Show over the weekend and sat in the Mercedes ML430[is this correct?] I think it's their mid entry level SUV. I was shocked at the inferior materials used in building this car. Surely this isn't the top of the line SUV from this company. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I expected better. |
