| My family and I are planning a weekend getaway probably to the Jersey shore sometime in August. We are looking for a place to relax, have fun by the beach and do a little siteseeing as well. We are leaning towards Ocean City and Cape May because we heard that they were nice places to visit, but thats all we heard. We have been to Wildwood and thought it was nice but was more for the kids. Please tell us your experiences, pros and cons. Also, please mention if there are other places on the Jersey shore that you have been to and had a great time. |

I grew up at the Jersey Shore - folks had a condo in Wildwood most of my life. And it dependsd what you are looking for. Cape May has some great bed/breakfast places - Ocean city is nice also (close to AC if you gamble) Stone Harbor is beautiful and quaint. Lots of water sports (kayaking etc) Wildwood is more of the family place -
But what are you looking for golf? beach? food? entertainment?

OC is very nice and pretty quiet. It has a boardwalk like Wildwood without the glut of loud teens. I will second Stone Harbor as a very nice place to stay. Avalon is just north of it and equally nice but not as "quaint".
Also, OC is a dry town - no liquor sold (but certainly imported ).:) |

We are looking for beach, food, some entertainment, some sightseening, and plenty of R & R.
Also, what do you think of Long Beach Island?
Thanks again. |

| LBI is more of a younger - college type crowd. Definitely good beach and nightlife. You will have to drive a bit for sightseeing. Good R&R. The wife and I usually will do 2-3 nites in a B&B in Cape May, then a few nights in AC. Easier then staying in once place, and then trying to drive all over. This way we crash where we intend to hang out. Its a Plus my folks live in AC, and we can drop the kids with them now. |
