Ok - so I picked up my car the other night, and he did a good job explaining everything. Going through all the manuals - getting in the car and showing my what every switch does (except the moon roof as it was raining) at the end of the pitch - he stated that Acrua calls me in 2-3 days and will ask me to rate him on a scale of 1-5, that the scale is just 5 or !5 (for geeks that is pronounce bang-5 and means "not-5") in other words if i don't give him all 5's its like giving him all 1's.

No hi pretty much deserves all 5's, he got the exact car I wanted - basically gave me the same deal I would have got from al the same local dealers. Was proactive and called me to continuely let me know where it was in the cycle (when I ordered it) Did all the paper work - faxed the it to me 3-4 times as my home fax machine kept jamming. When i questioned stuff in the contract he explained it to my satisfaction.

If he did not say anything I would have most likely given him all 5's, which apparently they shoot for as everyone at the dealership was like "if you have any questions, or need help just call" before and during the process. Do they get bonuses based on the ratings? free cars? trips? It was enough that I knew if you want 5's give me something else for free and I know i could get it.

Anyone else have a dealer tell them that ? Anyone rate their dealer other than al 5's?

My dealer told me the same story. Wait a weeek or so and see if you still feel like he deserves all fives.

So give them the grade they deserve not what they want.

In the future, you will encounter the well bellow average TLC Acura customer service we're all familiar with in this forum.

Good luck.

There have been a lot of threads about the infamous 'dealer survey'...

Here are a few to get you started:

Forgot to mention - wifes car is a VW (2002 passat wagon) and they have the same deal - we went to a VW/Mercedes dealer, and for the sales they really deserved a 5. We found my wife was pregnant with twins, we just bought a 2001 jetta, and the needed to upgrade. They found a car - gave us better than blue book value for the jetta, and gave us invoice +500 for the Passat, when most dealers were asking 500 under sticker.

We gave the guy 5's. We went in for routine service, and they did not fix the problem, instead did an oil change. Then we needed remote reset, they told us a 15 minute job, to come in, we did, they said "schedule an appointment" We gave them a 1 - the dealer apologized, and the last 2 services they have been perfect. In fact they really wanted us to get the tourag - but too small...

Got the exact same story from my dealer. He spent alot of time with me when I picked up the vehicle and went through all the bells and whistles just like yours did with you.

He will probably get all 5's from me...it's just kind of annoying that they all ask you to do so. This definitely biases the survey and if Acura REALLY wants to know how their dealers are performing, they need to figure out some other way to gather this information.

Anything less than a 5 (excellent) in the Acura/Honda system is the same as a 1 (poor). Hooray for a great system, huh?

The surveys are not anonymous; a poor score may make enemies with your dealer.

Maybe Acura should hire shills. Someone to go in and buy a car, but actually works for Acura, and see how they get treated. Same thing for service. I wonder how long i will get the silver platter treatment.

From the other threads it seems everyone is in the boat, and one of the reason I got an Acura is the fact some of my co-workers who have them say the TLC is pretty good. From going from dodge to Acura has to be better

SAme story here.

The guy gave me a good deal on X, but definitely didn't explain me everything in X.

He asked me to give all 5, I did give him all 5, though I knew he didn't derserve.

Do these feedback go back to dealer with a name or it is consolidated and then sent.

Because, Acura provides the name, then feedback is worthless, I better go and talk to dealer myself. Feedback, need to be adjusted and factored in and then given to dealer for improvement

When I picked up my car, I got the same story but the dealer didn't
"ask" me to give him all 5's. He just said if there was anything that I didn't feel I could give him a 5 on, to let him know first. Unfortunately without knowing the questions first, that's pretty hard. To bad price wasn't a question. I paid MSRP and was happy to do so, just to get the one I wanted. But I wouldn't have minded a better deal.:2: I did give him all 5's though.
