My 2001 has continual oil leaks which the dealer blames on a porous engine block. Anyone out there give me some insight into this issue.
BaldEagle
First I have heard of that one. (porous block)

Oil leaks are not common complaints from posters here.

Take it back to the dealer, or try another one if that is possible

Go through the Problems > TSBs forum and look for the TSB, which has an explanation of the issue and the fix. It's about a year old so set the dropdown menu to "since beginning".

Must not have been a very common occurance, at least not in the last year since I have been participating on this forum. This is the first I have heard of "porous block"

Found it. There is a link to the "Porous Block TSB" on this "Latest TSB's" thread from over a year ago:

Don't feel bad- one of the most expensive cars I ever owned- a BMW 633- had a porous block, too. It was so bad that the engine had to be replaced at 650 miles.
