Just took delivery of my 2003 about 10 days ago. When I set my A/C to Full Auto at 72 degrees, it atually only holds the interior temp. at 80 degrees (per acurate digital therm. test). I have to set the A/C at about 67 to reach an actual confortable temp. of 75. The system blows very cold when cranked all the way down to 60.

Took it to the dealer this morning and they performed the "hand test in front of the A/C vent". The service advisor said you "just lower the thermostat until you are comfortable" (gee, thanks for the technical insight!). Their conclusion was that it was working fine.

This is not what I've experienced in my '97 TL....set it at 75 it holds it at exactly 75.

What's been your experience with the accuracy of the temp. setting on your MDX A/C?

Welcome to the forum faruffer.

Sounds like you have a problem if you set it at full auto and it is 80 degrees.

I set mine at 72 and although I have never checked it with a thermometer it is very comfortable at that setting.

The hand test is not satisfactory IMHO. They are only checking to see if it is capable of blowing cold air and not testing it to see if it can maintain the proper temp.

Insist that a dealer rep goes with you on a test drive so you can show them the problem.

We leave ours set at 70 (our comfort level). Haven't checked the actual temp, but, you've made me curious now and I'll check the actual inside temp after 15 to 20 minutes of running. I would think that if the difference between your setting and the outside temp where greater than 15 to 20 degrees it would take some period of time for the temp to stabilize inside the truck.

I don't think the dealer handled your situation very well, but, my experience with service writters at most (with the exception of Lexus) is very similiar to what you got. Had a problem with the seat memory system in my last Jeep GC and it took 5 trips before I got them to even try to fix it, they never did.

I have a '03 also.. I set my climate control to 65 (if the inside is not 76, it will cool down (high-cool fanning) with recirculating air until it reaches near 65).

It works fine... if that's not true for your MDX, go to another dealer and get it fixed.

Also pay attention where the temp sensor is/are (all in the manual)... thats where you should have placed your manual meter, not in front of the vents.
