Titan or Tundra? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I sure wished Honda made a truck, since it would make my truck buying decision easy.

However, we're looking at trading in my wife's trusty accord for a truck. I'm considering both the 4X4 crew cab Titan and Tundra.

I'll be towing a motorcycle trailer (3000lb) a couple of times a year and driving 20 miles each way to work. No 4x4 trips for me, not planned anyway.

Any thoughts from the crowd? Thanks.:1:

I like the Tundra more than the Titan. At least it looks better

For a "couple times a year" why be saddled with HUGE loss of Fuel Economy for your 20 mile commute EVERY WORK DAY?

Get a new Accord. The money you save on fuel can be used to RENT a pickup for towing, or just use the MDX for towing! 3000 lbs is no problem for the MDX.

I am not some kind of tree hugging nut, but I just can't see wasting money on fuel for a big truck when 99% it is going to be taking YOU BY YOURSELF to work. NOw, if you were employed in some field that reguired you to transport a lot of stuff, maybe then I'd change my tune, but for 90% of working folks a truck is just wasting fuel/money.

Between the two, I would certainly go with the Tundra. Toyota builds a solid vehicle.

I like the Titan's looks - but of course this is subjective.

But it will be a first year vehicle - having both the "cool" factor and the risks associated with it.

The Titan is considered a real fullsized truck, and will be the first Japanese make to be so. From that standpoint, it should be a lot of fun to watch how it does - I think it will do quite well.

I do a lot of woodworking, and I need a truck to carry wood and related material/tools. Thats the reason we want a truck.:1:

Why don't you just carry it with your X :8: ? If it's long you could put it on the roof rack.
Casique
Normally the boards are 8 ft long, one to two inches thick and more than six inches wide.

By the time you load 6 to ten boards, it is a lot of weight which is hard to handle and trasnport.

The X is too nice inside to scratch and get dirty. The boards will have to either rest on the front arm rest to be totally inside the X, or let it hang out a couple of feet if carried inside.

I'm not sure the top rack can handle the weight of the boards either. A couple yes, but not a lot.

I have a baby seat in the middle of the second row seats, which locks both seats in the up position. Which means if I want to take anything large inside, I have to take the baby seat out, which is a pain.

A truck around the house makes things a lot eassier.:1:

Mine is loaded right now for the once a year (free) take it to the dump day. Don’t limit your self to the proposed Honda or Toyota. There are a lot of good trucks out there. The main reason I have Tundra is its size. Even though it is classed as full sized it is 10 to 12 inches shorter than the others and it was a better fit in my garage. Don’t plan on much use of the back seat unless the people back there are the size of 10 year olds.

Good luck

Tundra would be my choice. A few of my friends have one and have had no problmes with it.

I will definitely go Japanese! I have had extremelly bad luck with American vehicles.

I'm looking for reliability and quality, two foreign subjects to the big three.:1:

I have talked to two friends that own an Avalanche and they both are real positive about their trucks.

They say the ride and handling are excellent for a P/U. One even told me the ride and handling is on par or better than his wife's 02 MDX.

Isn't the V8 a GM motor? they may share more than you realize, no pure foreign or domestic vehicles any more.
