Hi JL_SS:

___You know what you need for all those leaves, don’t you? How about an Echo PB-6000 Professional Backpack Blower? Just tell the wife you need it for blowing leaves back into the brush and than you can use it to blow dry the X after its weekly wash while she’s not looking ;)

Hi Wayne,

Good Idea! I currently use a yard vac but I could always justify adding another tool to the shed if it helps clean the X :4:

No stress- it's our weekend house, after all. We go there to de-stress.
Some of the trees are apple. We're able to donate about 2,000 pounds of apples to the homeless each year.

500,000? 500,000? Wow. That's incredible.
I've been beating myself up recently for not being able to afford a house big enough for my growing family (2nd child due in Feb). But after reading this thread, I'm really convinced I just need to get out of LA.
We're now renting now, but we just fixed and flipped the following house:
1255 Square Feet
6747 Sq Foot Lot
2 bedroom, 1 3/4 ba
1 car garage
1 living room
1 kitchen
no basement
no h/t

Sales price: $672,000.
And yes, its next to a parking lot, worst location on the street

Where did your family stay? Years ago we stayed in the Southhampton Princess. So much interesting history for such a small island.

They loved it, especially the beaches. I wish our stay was longer. I've never seen a place where all the houses have white roofs.

Did you know that Bermudians collect the rain water from their roofs, into large cisterns under the house? This provides most of the potable water used by households.
One evaluation measure of a rental is to ask "How many fill ups does the cistern need in summer?" A small cistern may need several tanks-full of trucked water, which is costly.

I love that pool.
Oh_My_Baby
What kind of fish living in that pool? I guess must be a really fancy fish 'cuz it's nicely built.
trixie
I hope that there are no fish living in my pool!!

When I first moved to Phoenix, I laughed at the small size of most pools. After all, I was moving from Houston, where everything is big.

My pool is about 11,000 gallons and is commonly referred to as a "play pool". Most folks here don't have the space (or need) for an honest-to-god "diving pool", choosing instead to spend their money on upgrades. Mine has a pebble-tec finish, salt water chlorination, in-floor cleaners, and a few big rocks. Waterfalls, fountains, built-in tables, fiber optic lighting, and spas are also common upgrades. With temperatures already hitting over 100, we are in the prime of "swim season"--which will run into late October. In our climate, we spend seven months in the pool and another five sitting outside. Backyard amenities receive about as much attention as those inside the house.

Man I can't belive I never seen this thread!!!

Well I'll try to take some pics, but we live in a Townhouse, going to be moving up in size. We want a back yard. We live in 3 Bedrooms, 3.0 Bathrooms, 6 Rooms,Slab Construction , Central Air Conditioning
2 Car Attached Garage, Townhouse, has a dinky deck if you can call it that, great for single person or couple with no children. All for a Lovely price of 330K, was appraised at 350K. Can't remember the square footage.

Buy some goats. You don't have to cut grass, they will clean it up for you. Besides, you will have fresh goat milk to eat with cereals every morning. The goat manure will also save your money over the fertilizer. :2:

Send it off to these gardens and you'll save more on cow food too.

I love this time of the year for that one reason. Our grass grows so fast that I have to cut it every 4-5 days. Nice to get on the tractor, with my beer, and drive around. Way to relieve the stress.

Its probably not a good idea to publish that you drink while driving a pretty dangerous thing when you're stressed.... ;)

Oh_My_Baby
Right, You'd be arrested for DUI.
On the contrary, if you do cow backriding while drinking milk as the cow does grass chowing, you would be on the national commerial. What a way to release stress, Mooooooooooo. Get Milk???

Baby

What kind of nuts have you got ?

I mean, in your signature you say "Special wheel nuts". Are these custom made ?

Oh_My_Baby
I don't know. I got them free from the dealer along with two tinted front windows. They could be called wheel locks, but, like amateur politicians such as Pres. George Bush, I prefer to call them special wheel nuts because only me can unwind them. Best of all, the name attracts attention from some other "curious George" like you. :bonk: :12:

No kidding--a most excellent backyard retreat! I miss the California year-round lifestyle, but brutal winters make you appreciate summer a lot more (just a rationalization, I know).
Fabvsix
That is my other hobbie: Rookie landscaping etc....So far I've grown garlic, potatoes, Artichokes, Onions, shallots, black berries, cucumbers, watermellon, bell pepper (red/black/green), japanese eggplants (great on the grill), carrots, not to mention my potted friut trees that produce "year round". I bought out here 5 years ago and now understand how "perfect" the climate is here for growing ! I have a banana plant producing bananna's. The two pinnaples blew my guest away last summer !
My place is the "party" place..........put it this way, there is NEVER a dull moment here !

My thought exactly. But I'll pass on the yard-work.
DocWalk20
Thanks for the nice comments, everyone.

JimH, yeah it's got a full unfinished basement. Very nice for storage and for a kid play area during the winter months.

HP, thanks for noticing the grass. I've worked very hard on it over the last couple years. The seed was a combination/mixture of fescue, rye, and bluegrass from a local garden shop. Lot size is 1.33 acres all together. Takes about 1.5 hours to mow which isn't too bad overall except lately with all the rain it's need mowing at least twice a week! Might be time to start looking at bigger mowers. ;)
Wouldn't ever consider trading for a postage stamp size city lot. I need my space.
DocWalk20
Here's a shot of the back yard from the back edge of the property. My father-in-law still jokes that you need to pack a lunch if you're going to walk to the back edge of the lot and back.:2:

I'd like a back yard like that to be able to play catch, or frisbee, etc., but would certainly get a riding mower or hire someone to do it.
