Yup. I think the Ms. and I have had enough of the ~ 100yr old home renovation/maintenance game. We're looking to downsize. I'm talking a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo. A house like ImOnlTens house is out of the question, even with a staff of 20.

Canada:
5 bedroom 4 total floors, mini swiming pool, 2 car garage. (sucks big crap)

My place needs some landscaping at the front, so no pics yet.

I'm just proud, because I built it myself.

I bet for the price of what that (or similar) home costs in almost any state other than CA, you may be able to buy something like this beauty here, in the SF Bay Area.

Wonder how many of these houses is needed to buy a MDX :blingblin :21: ? Nice one mgmdx :29: :19:
Fireblade6
I bought this house in 1990. All the flowers and landscaping is personally created and cared for by me. There is a lot of TLC in this house. During the spring the bougainvilla is beautiful glowing in purple flowers and the yellow of the shrubs and the peach, red, yellow of the roses and the small purple flowers on the ice plants.

I also built a tree house on the side of the hill in my back yard where during the summer I sit up there to read, drink my coffee and at night wath the constellation with my telescope. I can see the ocean on a clear day up there.

I have an herb garden in the back with sixty varieties of herbs from all over the world. a Koi pond with a small water fall. Each room in the house is done in a theme from spanish to asian to ecclectic(my office) to the hi tech living room to the cozy family room. It is not as big as some of the houses posted here. But in San Diego, consider reasonably roomy. It is 2500 square feet single story. Purchased it for $197,000.00, last appraised two months ago at $490,000.00 because of the upgrades and interior custom work done to it. consider to be a great deal since my neighbors plain house sold for $570,000.00.

time for me to move on....My family needs a bigger house and am looking to have more projects to do.
DaleB
Very nice, Sir 'Blade! Plus it's in one of the nices cities in the world.

.96 acres

besides being closer to family, it was one of the main reasons for moving out of the Bay area.

When we first started loking otu there, I was just dumb founded at the prices. You had to start at 500k out there just to not get a fixer upper.. no thank you

You just said a mouthful, your mama did not raise no dummy!
Besides, how refreshing to live in a 'home' not in an investment.
Nice to have that choice.

Wife had me take some pix a week or so ago for landscape idea changes. I hope the guy doesn't come up with any more for me to trim and take care of.

Anyway- 5 BR 3 1/2 Bath about 3500 sq. feet located in Franklin, TN just outside Nashville. In fact, heard on the news this A.M. that Steve McNair (Titans QB that lives about 1/4 mile from me) got picked up for DUI about 3:00 A.M. this morning in Nashville and also had a loaded 9MM pistol. He had a permit for the gun, but it illegal to carry a gun while initoxicated, in Tennessee anyway. Go figure.....it would have been about a $30 cab ride.

If this house is in the SF Bay Area, the proper question should be: How many MDXs are needed to buy this house? (if you could call it that)
jswift2000
A house like that in CT would run you b/t 750,000 and $1,000,000!!! My wife and I need to move.
laborlitigator
Jswift. . . cute kid!
AcuraMDX2002
I have 1258 digital photos on this computer and not one of the homestead! It's a 5 bedroom, 4 bath, two-story with a 30' pool in the back yard with an oversized patio and a 2-story screen. If the rain stops maybe I'll post a pic tomorrow.

It's been great seeing the homes in this thread. Keep 'em coming.

Maybe one day when I move out from the SF bay area, I'll able to buy a mansion and join the crowd. I lived in a beat up old house that value at half a mil. Maybe I should drive up to Nape Valley and take a picture of a house and posted it. You won't know the difference.

labor,

Thanks for the compliment. She is wonderful.

Nice house. I'm going to post a pic after the rain stops and after I cut my lawn - its growing like gang busters this year. We have a Colonial on 1.2 acres. Love the house, the area and the lot. Wish we had a little more roon in the house so we may put on an addition next year of build a new house.
laborlitigator
Just make sure you get those permits. . .
jswift2000
I hate permits. I had to get in April for a shed I built - what a pain in the ass the town I live in is.
BlueStreak
Some very nice looking homes you guys have.

I'm working on my unfinished basement now, but about the time I get everything the way I want it, my girls will be in college. Time to get off my @ss and finish it while they can enjoy it.

Specs on the house:

3700 sq ft (not incl. 2100 sq ft basement)
3 bedrooms
bonus room
3.5 baths
Hot tub and sauana

.98 acres of too damn much grass to cut

Excuse me, but is that a "fixer upper" and is it for sale? :2:

Actually, I'm in the downsize mode of life (all four kids are out of the nest), having sold my custom 2 story 4500sq.ft. house on the central coast, the two of us now live in a 2500sq.ft. home in a nice subdivision here in the central valley. Nothing special, but it's a comfortable single story, 4 bedrooms, 2 bath, great room with kitchen, dining room, and a front sitting room ("living room.")
After having seen some of the houses posted on here, you guys are way out of my league (or is that, I'm not in your league?)
jswift2000

All my coworkers call it Greg-land.... I have an ingroud pool in the back, the basketball hoop in the driveway, an air hockey and ping-pong table in the basement, 2 PS2's and a networked PC in each room. Trying to talk the wife into a pool table but there are too many accessories for the X!

laborlitigator
Nice!!!!!! That's a guy place
jswift2000
That sure is a guy place. 4 acres rule!!! It must take you forever to mow. I have 1.2 acres and it takes me an hour. If I do the math, well, thats a long time.
darkhelmet
2.5 acres are wooded and 2 acres of that is Federally protected Forest conservation land. That leaves a little under 1.5 acres to mow. The back where the pool is has been landscaped and only take 5 minutes to push mow. The rest is landscaped so that it can be mowed by tractor, no push mowing or weedeating. All in all it takes about 1.5 hours, just enough time to smoke a cigar!!!:D
ImOnlyTen
Sweet houses people! Still have to get outside pics of our houses (in YYZ and MNL).
