The Trading Spaces Family show with BlueStreak and his family will be on this evening at 7:00ET/PT or 4:00PT if you have satellite.
I won't be home at 4 so I have the PVR set to record the show.
I wonder what Gregg and his family said when they opened their eyes? Most say "Oh My God!" and although Gregg would not say what they said he did say it was not OMG.
Any predictions on what they said? My guess is "Looks Great" and the other family said OMG. |

After performing maint. on the X this afternoon, it's now time to head out for our preview party. Changing oil on the X is so easy; it's tall enough to slide a pan under and if you turn the steering wheel far left as it will go, slip your hand in and spin the filter right off. No ramps or jacks needed!
We're starting the party @ 5:00pm, so I should be ready about 7. We're doing a fund-raiser for a local charity so "community children" are the real winners.
I'll try to check back later this evening to read what you guys think, depending on how many "beverages" I court.
Let me know what you think, being completely honest. |

| Both rooms look great!!! Thought the painting of the furniture would have been a sticking point but really did go with the room. I scanned your room for any picture of an MDX and saw only a calender with a BMW???? Vern always does a great job and your room was no exception. Congratulations:29: |

| I just finish watching that show!!!!! The turkey part was funny especially when your daughter was scared of that big bird. I love both rooms. Beige and black looks great and the fake fireplace is very nice too. Good job Bluestreak :29: |

Looks like you all had a fabulous time ! Both rooms came out great. In fact, this is about the first time I can remember that both families "lucked-out" and ended up with tasteful re-designs. Hope you're enjoying it.
Now that you are an "insider" any anecdotal comments about the show post edit?? |

| Great show, Greg! Both rooms turned out great, and it looks like everyone had a great time. Thanks for all the updates pre-show. I feel like an "insider" and you're now the one and only TV star of acuramdx.org! Can I have your autograph? |

Appreciate the comments!
We had a great time tonight. While I thought the show turned out very well, I was a bit disappointed at the amount of film that DIDN'T get aired. They filmed for 2.5 days and the show is about 40 minutes so I understand a lot of tape won't make it. In our case, there was a lot of material on tape! They showed me pushing my neighbor in the lake and then he sent turkeys over to our place, so I guess the jokes were even on tape. They didn't show where they went to get in our hot tub and my girls drained the water out a couple hours before.
Oh well, it was a great experience, a great time, and something I'd do again in a heartbeat. Now that the show has aired, if you have questions fire away. |

Oh My Gosh
Greg, you and your family and your neighbors should be proud of your performance on the show. One of the best "Trading Spaces" ever IMHO. Both teams obviously worked hard, kept it light, had fun, and wound up with very good final results.
You asked for our opinions so the only thing I was not crazy about was the fireplace. Every thing else was great.
A couple of questions:
1. Carter seemed to have a lot of work to do. Did he have any help other than the families?
2. After the turkey gift what practical joke were you planning for you neighbors? Edited, just read your post. The pushing in the lake did not come across as retaliation for the turkey. It was shown at the beginning of the show long before the turkey arrived. |

Greg,
I definitely liked the way your study turned out ! And the other living room looked fabulous as well ! My wife and I were trying to find a trace of your X somewhere (behind the Trading Spaces vehicles) but could not :(
It was a great show, and I am glad you and your family had a nice experience doing it. The practical jokes were funny too ! :D
Great show....keep it up ! |

Work was starting to get in the way of having fun. After a whirl-wind weekend I need to crash yesterday evening. We partied until midnight Sun evening so yesterday was tough. The good news is that we raised some serious $ for charity during our viewing party.
About the show, it was a real blast. The crew for the show was 24 people, not including the two families. Camera, lighting, assistants, make-up, producers, etc. You asked if Carter does all the work - not hardly. Carter does some but there are two guys, Frank and Mark, that work full time and late into evenings to make sure it all gets done. Also remember these guys have more tools than DaleB has posts. It makes construction much easier. They had a new Bosch chop-saw that you can't even buy yet (still in testing). I tell people Carter is the eye-candy and Frank and Mark are the real carpenters.
The X was long gone from the yard. The maroon Navigator in the driveway was Vern's. Since Edward lives in Raleigh, he drove his own car over. The pick-up truck was the TS truck, thanks GM. The calendar on my wall was GM prototype cars. I would live in the doghouse full-time if I bought a BMW and kept the vette AND the X.
About the rooms, both owners are thrilled and haven't changed a thing. OK, we installed brighter light bulbs, but that has been it. 15W lamps don't work for reality, but they work nice when camera lights are on full-blast.
Ok, here's the deal on jokes. My neighbor is Mr. Accident so I had to have fun with him. He was walking by the sea wall and asked "how deep is the water here"? So I pushed him in and said "go find out". That started it right there. So he sent the turkeys over (he's a VP of a turkey processing plant) saying my wife and girls were lazy like turkeys and to get to work. My daughter freaked, as you saw, so we had to get even on that.
My wife (Leslie) gave Judy my cell # in case of an emergency. So Joe (the host) asks Leslie if Judy keeps a clean house. Leslie responded "she keeps an OK house but it's not super clean" so Joe tells Judy that Leslie says she keeps a dirty house. So Judy says "oh yeah, Leslie gave me Greg's cell number to call her about the design". Then they taped Joe busting Leslie and I for trying to cheat after busting Judy.
Based on that, Joe told me the other family was planning to spend some relaxing time in our hot tub after homework. So I told my girls to go with Joe and drain the water out of the hot tub. They did and the other family went down to get in the tub and - no water. I had a sign "No hot tub for you turkeys - no harm no fowl! Get back to work". They had no fun after homework as they were pissed we drained the water after they all changed into their suits and got everything ready to shoot the scene. The producers knew what we did but not the other family.
So naturally we were disappointed when we saw so little of this actually make it on tape. They called us after the show and apologized they just weren't able to get it all on tape. During the reveal Joe made the comments he never experienced so many jokes going on, because that is about all we did for 2.5 days. Life is too short to be so serious.
We also went after Carter and the designers with super-soakers (it was 90+ when they were filming) and water baloons, and just a little of that made the show. After the program, Carter, Joe, and all of us went in the lake and we tried catching the producers (all ladies), but were unsuccessful. So we drenched them with water guns. It's 9:00pm, getting cool, pretty girls in t-shirts, and it's a water fight. :4: What a party that was!
Anyway, if you guys get the opportunity to go on the show, I'd do it. It was a wonderful experience, expecially for children. I got so little camera time compared to my kids, but that's fine with me.
You guys have been great to share this with. I really wanted to X or the forum to get some exposure and it didn't happen. All I got on the tube was my Ohio State grill cover. No vette, X, or anything else.
The show will run again this Fri, Sat and Sun, then it's to the rerun pool. Book will be out later and we'll see if pics of the room make it |

| Thanks BlueStreak for taking the time to fill in the blanks. TS is my son's favorite show so he'll be interested to know that there were a few more hammers and hands working in the background out of the camera's view. |
