lets see what others hear in their mdx.
i hear:
1. clicking sound. front left. under my left foot. not always. about 30-40%. still hear on the highway. i think it is door lock beeping sound maker wire hitting the metal body.
2. body noisy. when i first move my car from the parked spot. i hear "Took, tuck tack". have noooooo idea what that is. Maybe its brake. Freeing it self from rest.
3. chair noisy. when i turn right fast i hear one big noisy under my left butt. I think it is the chair that makes noisy.
4. cargo cover noisy. it shakes little and make small noisy. occasionally.
5. water dripping noisy. i hear water dripping sound when raining. i hear it from the front left door, right next to my left ear.
6. gas tank noisy. Specially when its full. love it! |

we seem to have developed body squeak noises. usually occurs while driving on normal roads but not on really bumpy ones... odd. also we have the "brake clunking" sounds so often described here.
it's going in for the 7,500 mile soon. i'll have them look/listen... |

What do I hear?
Nothing unusual.
All I hear are the sounds of superior engineering that Honda/Acura is known for.

I hear this incessant high pitched whining that usually originates from somewheres near the front passenger seat . . .
Doh, never mind, that's just the Wife with her usual chatter . . .
I normally crank up the Bose CD system and periodically utter: 'yes dear, you're right honey, anything you say hon' until the noise goes away . . . |

I hear the wife talking, i hear a squeak from the little rubber mat under the coin tray (i seemed to have fixed it), I hear the wife talking, I have a click/clank of some sorts from the brakes, which the dealer said is normal - bs, I hear the wife talking, i think I hear the gas tank, I hear the wife talking. Otherwise, the car is great. I love it and I would buy another one in two shakes of a lamb tail.
My wife doesnt talk that much... okay she does but I love her to death. Shes the best. |

| Your "Took, tuck tack" is just about the sound that the ignition key fob makes when it rocks back and forth against the steering column cover. Check it out. Some folks have fixed it by putting a piece of the "loop" side of Velcro (R) on the column cover. |

| Normally, my X is pretty quite. Unfortunately, my drive to work takes me on a very crappy highway (concrete, lots-o-seems, patches, etc.). At highway speeds on this road I hear a symphony of noises from the interior, most all from the back. I'm not sure if it's the DVD, seats, headrests, who knows. :3: |

| Last weekend after a 300mi highway trip, I developed a very annoying sqeeking noise that seems to come from my center console/armrest. It sounds like someone wedged a styrofoam cup between my seat and console so that everytime I hit a bump, it sqeaks. Very annoying. It stopped a bit when I wedged a t-shirt between the seat and console. Anyone else experience this? |

Recently, my wife and I heard the squeak noises sometimes. I haven't found how to re-produced yet. Do you know the patten ? Well, I am not sure it is from the body or from the other part. Please let me know what you find.

Hello All,
I am happy to report that our 04' MDX has none of those problems that you have indicated. As for the 'thud' from the gas tank, as per a tech @ Mission Viejo Acura, "the 04's tank issue was resolved late in 03". He told me that all MDX's do have baffling, but additional baffles were installed in the late 03;s up....
Is a matter of fact, he stated that the internal tank change has resulted in a greater holding capacity too. I have filled the tank 5-times now and (3) times filled 20+ gallons, even though the manual states a 19.2 capacity. |

| Don't have my X yet, but my 2001 MB C320 has more rattles than a "Mommy and Me" class. My wife's 1997 Honda Civic is still tight as a drum! |

| I get the sound that seems to be coming from the brake when I first backup...for a while I would be afraid that I rolled over something, but I have gotten used to it. No biggie. |

For me, that just occurs when I use the brake for the first time after changing between forward and reverse. It seems there is a little play in the pads so it moves forward or back just a bit after being applied with the wheels rotating in a different direction. If I park driving forward, then pull out of the spot forward as well I don't hear the noise. |

A loose part noise coming somewhere from under the steering wheel axile or behind the left front dash board.
I am afraid that the dealer may take out the dash board to try to fix the noise, but unintentionally created more squeaky sounds after putting back the dash board.
I keep waiting to have the sound and its location more well defined, then I will bring to the dealer's attention.
Last time I complained to them, but they could not duplicate it. :4: |

I hear squeaks from the console and under the dash. Have been in to the dealer multiple time to resolve.
They foam and unsulate, the rattles go away for a week or two and come back.
The sounds seem to be mostly in the morning or when it is cold.
I have posted on this before and have been working with the dealer on resolution. I have one more trip to the dealer before I go to arbitration with this. Anyone have any experience with that?
Thanks |
