It's come up a few times on how to install the cargo net in the vertical position, so I thought these pictures may help....
To begin with, for this installation, you will only need 2 of the 4 metal hooks that come with the cargo net.
Lay the net down in the cargo area, and fold it in half. At the fold attach the 2 clips. Remove the plastic hook covers on the cargo floor at the rear of the MDX and clip the hooks attached to the net to the floor.
Hook the rubber around the plastic hooks built into the sides of the MDX's cargo area.

I think this is the correct installation. You actually attached the cargo net to the tether anchors for the car seat.

Well if we look at the official picture from Acura....
... we can see that the hooks are attached where I have them, thus allowing you to still use the child seat anchors (which you've used).

It's very hard to tell from the thumbnail picture, but I followed the Honda installation manual. If I stuff the grocery bags behind my cargo net, it would look like the official thumbnail picture from Acura. Anyway, this is just my interpretation of the installation manual. There is a alternate installation for third row seats down.

I was looking at the pics and it looked like your cargo mat is clear. Where did you get it from? I suspect yours only covers behind the third seat. Hummm, maybe I'll get both.
I like Acura's OE one since it seams to have indents for the hooks. It doesn't look like any of the aftermarket have those indents. I suspect one may need that indents depending on where one attaches the net. TIA for any additional info. |

I custom made the cargo mat and all weather mats (1st and 2nd rows) from Tenex carpet protector. HomeBase was selling it for $1.99 per linear feet before it went out of business. Home Depot and Lowes do not have the "deep pile" carpet protector. The "deep pile" version is a lot thicker and higher quality. |

| The Acura cargo nets have been on and off backorder from Tim but while strolling through walmart I noticed some generic cargo nets for $14.98. Tried it out and it works great. It's half the length of the Acura one and so is perfect for the rear application, to keep the stroller from tumbling out the back when the third row seats are up. |

I just installed mine, and I don't see how the official Acura pic was done, because the rear-most mount point on the trunk floor has a plastic cover over it depicting something totally unrelated to the cargo net.
And the instructions clearly show the anchors in the "middle" on the floor as the correct points to mount.
Well, after I installed it, the net was at an angle, which I thought was odd...but then I thought HEY! This is a good ergonomic idea, it's angled to make removing items behind the net easier, especially for shorter-than-average people! Leave it to Honda once again to think of "human approach". :29: |

| I agree with jamesc that you attached the net to the child seat anchors. I also replaced the cheesy clips that came with the cargo net with carabiner clips. You can pick them up at home depot for about $ 1.50 each. |

I also used the 'tied downs' in the floor (like jamesc, ndahbar, and others) rather than the child seat anchors (like Rail). I also replaced the standard clips with small 'carabiner clips' from Home Depot.
I also find myself putting a lot of stuff (groceries, etc.) in between the folds of the net rather than just behind it (since my third row seats are down most of the time). |

Even with the third row up, the net is very useful. In fact, it's angled as the third row seats and also holds heavier items between the seats and the net.
I also found the upright style of the net to be more useful for quick trips to the grocery store to keep lightweight items from rolling. |

| I think the picture above is showing a pre-04 MDX with the Cargo Net. The '04 doesn't have the additional anchors in the back, we only have the tethers for the child seats. We have to use the farther forward and to the side anchors. |

I have a 2004 and I have the side anchors similiar to the above picture. Do you have cargo tray or something that may be covering it up?

| I only have the net, but the anchors don't work well with the net. I am wondering if there were different nets made for the '04's. It seems extremely tight and bows on the bottom. I will try and take a picture of it. |
