Well, both front struts have finally arrived! The right one took almost 2 months! Acura of Brooklyn (have only good things to say about them, btw) will put them in today. I will keep you all posted if this "minor" alteration will stop the rattling sound (I guess, commonly referred on this site as "The Thud").
They will look (and hopefully replace) a rear wiper motor which makes some unpleasant noises after about 5 minutes of work.
They will also run my VIN/Seat Belt Serial # to make sure my car is not affected. I was unable to read the full serial number myself - I was afraid I'd rip the tag off.
It took some explaining as well as some "show-and-tell" to explain the "Leaky mirrors" and the "Fuzzy hairs".
I am sure they had some laughs once I left the room. Apparently I am the 1st one to bring both issues up with them. (or so it seemed to me from their reaction).
They said that unless Acura has some guidelines as to how to erradicate the mirror problem, they would not "improvise", but they would definitely log a complaint.
As far as a "Chia-Pet" growing on the seats... I'll see what they do with it when I pick it up tonight.
Oh, well, I will sure miss those hairs. :) |

vip9,
What's the story with the hairs on your seats? Is this a joke or is there really a problem?

| There are little "fuzzie" strands of, well fuzz that can poke out of the holes of the seats. They will in time wear away. Apparently it is more of a problem on some cars than on others. |

Alas, "hair" on the seats is not a joke. I will not go into detailed specs, it has been discussed on this forum in great detail. The bottom line is - after a few weeks/months of usage, the top layer of seat cushion starts "growing" through the perforated leather thus creating a "fuzzy hair" look. (It's not really "growing" per say - it's not mold or anything like that, it's just that it becomes visible.)
They have no effect on driving the vehicle and can be viewed as additional warming insulation. :)
Most people reported that the hair would eventually roll out and disappear.
But before it does, it really looks ugly. :( |

Well, the car is home now, recuperating after the "surgery".
Driving about 10 miles from the dealership and around town, I cannot yet say if such a drastic measure as replacing both front struts yielded any results. I have not visited some of the "loudest" bumps yet. :)
It did sound quieter, but the jury is still out.
"Fuzzy hairs"- According to the dealer, it's not the cushion, but rather leather residue left over from punching those holes. They used "eye-brow tweezers" to pluck most of them out! :) :) :) (At least that's what they said).
"Leaky mirrors" - nothing they could do. I guess until and unless Acura decides to acknowledge this problem, it will drip! I am not man enough :( to take the doors apart just for that.
Seat belt/Air bag recall! My vin is in 10xxx, way past the recalled range, yet they said my car was affected and they ordered a new part. BEWARE! Have your part # checked (or Vin # run thru their computers)
Rear wiper - they said they could not replicate the problem. I thought I was hearing things. :(
Surprise, surprise - the moment I turned the wiper on, the sound came back. They will order the entire assembly for replacement.
All this means another trip to the dealer!!! It starts getting on my nerves! :( :( :( |
