Presenting my '03 Nighthawk Black Pearl on Saddle Touring w/ navigation. Delivered on April 1, 2003. It took a while get some pics up, but here they finally are.
The chrome rims and sidesteps provide an excellent accent to the NBP exterior. I did a chrome exchange on the Acura wheels instead of purchasing through dealer. This saved me over $1100! As I am unfamiliar with the board rules on advertising, I will refrain from posting my source here. If anyone is interested, just e-mail me.
I also had my dealer install the sidesteps, but negotiated to near Internet prices. |

| IMO, the chrome wheels and sidesteps go a long way to give the Bling, Bling effect on the NBP exterior. Whadya think? |

Very nice.:29:
IMHO nothing looks better than a clean shinny NBP.
Your additions, wheels and steps, make it look even better.
How much did the dealer charge for the steps? I also have the chrome steps, got them from Tim for $442 and installed them myself. |

| Skew... looks great! I'm glad you posted, because I was wondering what my NBP would look like with chromed factory touring wheels. Just a slight bit 'bling' but def not over the top, IMO. It's knowing where to draw the line, and I think you're on the good taste side of the line. Good luck, and congrats on your new ride! |

Very nice!!! Beautiful wheels. There is no problem with posting where you got extra's or the name of the retailers, we actually would prefer it so other members could take advantage of good deals. Welcome aboard. |

Thanks to all the good wishes...
I got these rims from OEMRIMS.COM. They are located here in Orange County, CA. I searched the board and found someone else who bought from him (I think off eBay). These are the same rims that come from the factory so you don't have to worry about offsets and other variations as you might with aftermarkets.
My dealer's first quote was $1695 for exchange. He later dropped that to $1295. As you will find when you go to OEMRIMS, he just charges $100/rim exchange and $10 for chrome centercap.
I was surprised at his trust. I drove to their warehouse in my X, he loaded 4 bagged and boxed chrome rims and let me drive off to the local tire shop to install. He didn't even ask for a deposit. I just returned my 4 original alloys in the boxes and wrote him a check for $440. It was a very smooth transaction.
Acura quote $1826 (1695+sales tax)
Oemrims price - 440
Installation - 100 (really $40, but I added lifetime Bal & Rot)
-------------------------------------
Actual Savings $1286
After all the back & forth with Acura dealers just to get MSRP on my X, it was quite refreshing to find someone who wasn't trying to gouge you. I'm happy to send him more business and to share my good experience with fellow X owners. |

I saw the group buy for this item, but didn't have my X yet.
Dealer originally quoted about $1000, I told him that I found online Acura dealer that could deliver to my door for about $480 (think it was around that price at the time). He gave me a final price of $505 (468.75+tax). I then inquired about install. They quoted $128. I've seen Acura's installation instructions. $128 is not bad for 12 brackets and 72 bolts plus extended dealer warranty.
The total for Chrome Acura Sidesteps installed by dealer was $633.08. |

That is a very fair price.
The install takes about 2 hours and the typical labor rate per hour is $70.
Those rims sure do look good with the chrome steps.:29: :claphead: |

Thanks for all the good words.
I have a road trip planned for mid-July and am thinking of doing a DVD-video tweak on the Navi in preparation. I've seen the Vizualogic(sp?) headrests in an X5 and like the quality. I know there's alot of chatter on this board about that subject. I just need to do more research before I pull the trigger. |

Skewbeedeaux,
Thanks for passing on OEMRIMS.COM I gave Charlie" a call (310-505-4114) last week to set up an appointment Sat 5-31-03 to pick up a set of new chrome wheels, I had them installed Sunday 6-1-03 and meet Charlie near Cerittos Auto Square later that day to return my stock cores and pay the $440.00 (price included chrome valve stems and chrome center caps with Acura emblem)
I can not say enough good about OEMRIMS.com's service , Charlie's is a trust worthy businessman who provided an excellent quality product for a fair price.
Again I would highly recommend :29: :29: OEM.com to any member looking for chrome stock OEM rims
Good Luck Charlie

Happy_MDX... Glad to hear you had a smooth transaction. The way I understand it, he makes most of his sales to dealerships and this is just gravy on the side for him. If thats true, then $440 bought us the same product that local Acura dealers ask $1200-1700.
Acura makes a great SUV. But when dealers sell an aftermarket product at ~150-300% markup, I just can't help but feel price $crewed. |
