Here's the weirdest thing....I went out tonight to put something in the trunk area, and I couldn't open the tailgate?
I thought, Hmmm, all the doors are unlocked, why won't this open?
So I played around with the fob (lock-unlock several times), and still nothing...I even disconnected the battery, then hooked it back up, and still the tailgate will not unlock...
Any suggestions anyone???
Help...I really need to put some stuff back there.... |

Try this see if it works. Crawl in through the back seats. remove the plug in the liner and then use your finger to locate a lever, try to swith it. See if that engages the rear lever. |

It all seems fine now, but why it would do that I'm not sure???? |

Curtsan,
I sure do love your installation of speakers in the rear lift gate. Even though it's not stock, that's precisely the best place for rear speakers. |

| Thanks alot, it turned out well, looks very factory also, and really helps give a "rear" feel, as I find the rear doors still creat imaging problems for the front unless they are faded way down....now I have a good rear fill, without imaging issues up front. |

Wow, Warzau, I'm impressed!
Curtsan -- could you hear the lock trying to engage/disengage when unlocking w/the fob? If not, I'd guess you knocked a harness loose during the speaker install. Pull the trim and check the connections and routing. If they're all good, maybe the latch mechanism/lock died coincidentally, or is in the process of doing so. |

Could it have been knocked outta the proper setting? Hitting a bump??? BTW they way I found this out. The plug in my liner decided to jump inside, while I was trying to find it I touched the lever wondering what it did I flipped it. Then the latch didnt open the hatch(thank goodness I didnt close the rear hatch though) the I flipped it back to the way I felt it, it engaged the lever, I guess. |

Yes, you could definitely "hear" it trying to unlock...it was more of a mechanical thing....when you squeezed the release handle outside, its like nothing happened, just a "dead" handle///
When I installed the speakers, I was no where in that vicinity..?
Odd isn't it....because now it works like a charm (as it did yesterday afternoon) but last night it (the handle mechanism) just died...
The "flicking" of the little lever inside the rubber grommet cover is all I touched to get it back to normal...Very strange??? |

My plug also fell inside the hatch. Did you ever find yours?
I was trying to take mine out to fix the opposite of the problem mentioned in this thread and pushed the plug inside the hatch.
My hatch would not lock. I finally got it to lock by opening the hatch, locking the doors then unlocking with the hatch open. When I closed it the hatch now would lock. No other problem since this happened 3 months ago. |
