I'd be in, can anyone tell me about installation and the airbag thing?
If it doesn't cost a fortune to have someone change it- I'll be in.

My local Acura dealer quoted me $40 to install it.

Hi All:

___GB price from Tim the last go around and $30.00 for the install at my local (and trusted) body shop. It was a 10 minute ordeal so they are making some money on it … Make sure you have your radio code handy because they do disconnect the battery and your anti-theft radio system will be staring at you saying “Code Please”, “Code Please” ;)

___Oh, and the wheel looks and feels fantastic. Thicker than the Lexus wood wheels. The wife originally liked the all-leather/black highlights but even she has now warmed up to and prefers the Wood-Grain Wheel, Meter Trim, RES Trim, and Burlwood Shift knob.

___Good Luck

What about a group buy for the front air deflector that many of us have been mentioning for the last couple of weeks? Is it not going to happen for June? Or will the wood steering wheel be the June GB?
hondacuraworld
The steering wheel I'd do either way, just because I've got some stock here I'd like to move.

As for the June buy? Hmmmmm......guess we'll have to wait and see, but if I do the FormFit one, I can't do that great of a deal, since I have to pay shipping here and out.....

lets go with the steering wheel...

common guys ;]

I wish I had the $$$!!! My wife has a bazillion baby showers this month and she also clued me in that she hates all 50+ pairs of shoes in the closet. One income sucks...
capjand4
Tim, how much do u charge for labor?
Blackura
I have the wood wheel, and it's odd how many friends comment on it... all very positive. Certainly not a "must have" item, but a very nice one in an unexpected way.

Tim,
Is the price good for the 2003 wheel also? I know it is slightly different in color than the 01-02 wheel.

$74 plus tax for the install. This sale would apply to all MDX steering wheels, btw.

It sure does. I've got a second son due in about 6 weeks, bought my wife a 2001 CRV, and just had all new windows installed in my house.......so believe me, I feel your pain :(

Tim,
So, what do we have here? A group buy or the June special? For the wheel, I mean. Thanks.

Oh, I dunno, I'm in a laid back mood today

What way do you want to do it? Doesn't matter to me.

It is kind of a quandary! If we have the wheel for the June special, this might make the front deflector crowd mad. (although saving 10 bucks on the deflector doesn't warrant a Monthly special, IMHO).

If we go with the group buy, you can do something else for the June special. However, if we can't get enough interest for a group buy...no discount on the wheel. So, being the selfish person I am, I would go for the monthly special. Or maybe have a first half of June special and a last half of June special?? Just my $.02.
hondacuraworld
It's up to you.....if you guys want to order now, I can just go in and change the part price on the website and leave it that way for a week, or we can make it a monthly.......however.
catzx6
So now I'm a little confused. Can you clarify what is either the GB or Special and the price? Thanks. (Apparently my caffiene fix has worn off by now!)

To copy my previous post:

So, I'm asking you what you prefer.
phins2rt
I could go for the weekly thing if there still is enough interest (i.e. if you can move enough in a week ;)!)
nyc
lets take a vote.

I'd say go with the weekly.
MDXRAT
Just wanted to raise my hand and say "I'm in" for the wood wheel.
After looking at pics of the plood wheel, I have to have it to complete the dash and shifter plood pieces.
A one week window to "group" order works for me.
This will apply to all years yes?

Hi Tim,
So do we have the steering wheel and air deflector group buy for June 2003?
Thanks.
capjand4
Tim, are we doing the weekly group with the wood steering wheel?
hondacuraworld
Sure, I'll drop the price for a week starting today. Just be a little patient with the shipping as I know I won't have every color in stock.
nyc
ordered. ;]

not yet.... doing now :)
nota4re
Tim shipped my '03 right away. I think he said something upfront that he has some supply in stock and after that he may have to order - that's why I did my order quickly.

Probably covered elsewhere in this forum, but after reconnecting your battery you will have to do a simple reset procedure to get the auto-down to work again on the driver's window.
MDXLooker
Tim shipped my wood steering wheel immediately as well.
FYI, I called a local Acura dealer and was told it would take "well
over 2 hours" to install and would cost about $200.
I then downloaded in the installation instructions from this site, stopped by a local body shop I know of and, after reviewing the instructions they told me it would take "no longer" than 30 minutes -20 if they rushed it, and asked sheepishly if $35 was too much to charge.
They did a flawless job in just under 30 minutes.
Lessons learned? Acura dealers still continue to gouge whenever and wherever they can.
