In the past 30 days a seam on driver seat split open and the rear left seat ripped. We're not overweight and we're really careful.
That's the bad news. The good news is that new seat covers are on their way from Acura.
The driver seat split was a no brainer. But I thought I was going to have a problem getting the tear in the rear seat covered under warranty. I actually went to a leather doctor first for the tear and he said he couldn't permanently make a repair on perforated seats. In fact, it was he who pointed out that, besides the tear, the leather was cracking in between the perforations.
My dealer took one look at the rear seat tear and cracks, agreed it was a problem, and ordered a replacement.
Soooo, there may be a leather quality problem out there that Acura is aware of and which they are very willing to repair without question. If you have a problem that you don't think is covered by warranty (ie, a tear), think again.
I was very pleased with how Acura handled what I thought was going to be a warranty battle.
Hope this helps.

Glad to hear it. Lately, it seems that we are hearing of cases where Acura is taking ownership of warranty issues.
Personally, they took care of a clutch issue in an Integra in 96'. I wasn't sure if it would be covered, but they took care of me immediately and without hassle. That sold me and that is why I have had three Acuras. I think the dealership has a lot to do with it, but at least Corporate lets them do it. (I think the clutch had issues after my wife had gotten into an accident which pretty much took the front bumper off).
Compare this with a domestic make, which in the second year and the second repair for the AC, I was charged 50% of the cost under their "bumper to bumper"warranty for work that a new car shouldn't need, and they failed to fix the first time. This happened to both my dads car and my brother in laws minivan.
I guess different companies view achieving customer loyalty differently. |
