I have read that several MDX owners notice an unusual noise when driving between 30 and 40 mph.
The noise is definitely in the roof rack and is due to the filler strip on the rack. You can prove it by placing a piece of duct tape across the cross bar. The noise disappears.
The fix is simple. Just lay a thin bead of black silicon seal on the leading edge of the cross bar to prevent the filler strip from elevating and vibrating, allowing wind to pass under it causing the noise.
Do the same with the rear bar. It is hardly noticeable as the material blends in quite nicely with the black bar. It is not necessary to treat the trailing edge.
