I had the chance to drive my parent's 02 the other day, and I noticed that the brakes vibrate when applying a certain (medium) amount of pressure.
The X has 15k miles on it. Anybody know what the vibration can be from?
Thanks.

| Could be rotors or something else if the ABS or VTS kicks in. How fast were you going? |

| It's definitely not the ABS, so I guess it might be warped front rotors. Anybody know if that is covered under warranty? |

| Not sure if it's a warranty item. The same thing happened to my wife's 99 TL around 15,000 miles and the dealer replaced both front rotors under warranty. |

I just brought my '03 X with 15,000 miles in for this. The vibration was very light, but I knew exactly what it was and won't stand for any 'chatter'. They checked and confirmed front rotors were slightly warped, and didn't give me a hassle about resurfacing them at no charge.
They did of course ask me whether I may do a lot of mountain driving, inferring that I sit on the brakes. I suppose it's fair to ask the question, but I'm very careful about my braking technique and am certain that my driving patterns did not cause this warping. |

| Any chance this is happening right after the 15,000 mile tire rotation? Do you think it might be due to tightening the lug nuts with an impact wrench? |

I agree totally. I've had lug nuts on so tight I wasn't able to loosen them and had to return to the dealer. All manufacturers are making the rotors with no more material than absolutely necessary for weight saving, hence the easy warping. I see this problem talked about on a lot of forums. |

| Wow, that's an interesting theory. I should have clarified that I reported as part of my 15K service, but certainly something that could have been a result of the rotation at 7.5K. |
