| My wife has a 2000 TL with Nav. Several times after she would get a really timely or useful verbal instruction from the Nav. like "Slight right turn ahead." she would say "thank you" back to it. Of course this led to her trying to come up with a name for the voice. Since her favorite color is purple, it didn't take long for her to name it Violet. My MDX with Touring/Nav. is due in shortly (it's on the truck - yeah baby!!) and she expects me to name mine too. Haven't figured that one out yet, think I'll fantasize for awhile, but it got me to wondering if any of you folks have actually named 'the voice' too. I'd like to think we're not the only ones....so let's hear it. Anyone come up with a cool name for your Navi voice? |

| Wife, mother and sister named her "Joy" on their recent trip from SF to LA. Works for me. My Lexus navi gal has remained nameless ever since I brought her home 1.5 yrs ago... |

Never thought about naming her. I have the Navi on both my TL and MDX and both are still nameless.
May have to give it some thought. |

| If you bought an Infinity QX4 with a Navigation System you'd have to name her Grandma Rosemary ;) ..I hope I'm not the only one who has heard the Infinity ad..... :D (here in Southern California - that is) |

I'm a bit of a Star Trek nut (Trekkie or Trekker??) and never miss an episode of S.T. Voyager, I call the computer voice on my navigation system "Alice" after the Star Trek Voyager episode where Tom Paris is "taken over" by the alien space shuttle, "Alice" he acquires and rebuilds. The spacecraft has a mind of it's own and takes over, much like my Navi which frequently wants me to go off in a different direction that I know to be wrong. Last week I was leaving a McDonalds near Maryland's 695 - I could see the entrance ramp for 695 from the parking lot on my left, but "Alice" told me to turn right, proceed 1/2 mile, turn right, proceed 1/4 mile and turn right again to access the previous exit! (she might not always go the way you want to, but Alice will eventually get you there...)

| On our 99 BMW, we call the Nav Rhonda as in "Help, help me, Rhonda." A friend named the Nav on the MDX Pixie since he thought it sounded like the Disney character with it's little-girl voice... The name stuck. |

| We've jokingly called her "Keiko" since there's a bit of Japanese lilt to her voice. My brother had a good friend named Keiko when he lived in Tokyo, so it seemed appropriate. |

My previous navigator was my wife, May. Since the MDX navi is now replacing her (and doing a much better job), I call it "June," since June replaces May on the calendar. My wife also loves it because she can now sit back and enjoy the ride instead of navigating, which often led to a frustrating situation for both of us.

Since it is the 2001 model year we should feminize HAL to HALLEY! |
